They've finally done it!!!!

Went to the Louvre today, and I%26#39;m so happy to say that they%26#39;ve finally put the big three in places that will make the 6-Minute-Louvre a reality. If you enter through Sully and take the stairway at the back corner of the Medieval Louvre (the southest corner), you can pop up the stairs and fly through the ancient Egyptian exhibits, see Miss Milo, go another 30 meters past the Apollo Salon to the steps of the Winged Babe, and then up the short flight of steps to the Grand Galerie to see La Jaconde, and then down and out the door on the Denon side. It flows beautifully.

It was my shortest visit yet.

I%26#39;m not sure why, but this reminds me of the story of a competition which asked participants to nominate the work of art they would choose to rescue if the Louvre caught fire. The winner%26#39;s answer was

........ the one nearest the exit ;-)

Well, if one wants to see the 3 babes, 6 minutes is a whizzer, ah, I guess.

|||

The responses you%26#39;re going to get to this post are going to be...... interesting Arrow. LOL

|||

Oh goody,

now we%26#39;ll have time to nip over to England and see the

%26#39;one minute%26#39; condensed Shakespeare plays.

|||

Then there is always the New York minute.

|||

I suppose this is the preview of what future packaged tour groups will go through. Except for the Egyptians, other places will have peace and quiet.

There actually was a small group of actors, four or five in number IIRC, who %26quot;did%26quot; all the Shakespeare plays, every last one of them, in a show that lasted less than two hours. I saw it a few years back at the Edinburgh Festival. It was gut-achingly funny...

I think they were Canadian, whatever that says about anything...

And thet threw in the Sonnets as a three minute encore...

|||

Ahhhh...this reminds of that popular saying (they actually made a movie with the title) : %26quot; If it%26#39;s Tuesday, it must be Belgium.%26quot;

|||

Oh no, no, no. Two hours is far too long - places to go, tee shirts to buy!

I was referring to 60 second Shakespeare. A la the BBC:

Yes, it was that way in June. I wish we had talked about the Louvre, I could have told you. Does make it easy for those who just have a day or two in Paris.

I also wish they marked the exits more clearly. My family still laughs about getting %26quot;stuck%26quot; following the exit signs in the Egyptian gallery and going in circles, no matter which way we tried to leave we ended up in the same place over and over. Good news is we somehow found our way to the bottom floors and the old foundations.

Have fun tomorrow night,

T

PS I posting you separately to get your attention. hopefully you can help with s a Versailles question.
