We decided to go to Beaune and perhaps Dijon as a day trip from Paris. I know, it will be a long day, but we want to see some country side, taste some wine, and say that we have been to the Burgandy region of France.
Checking the train schedules, we leave Paris Gare De Lyon to Beaune with a stop at the Dijon Station. Is it possible to go to Beaune for the first part of the day, and then after lunch, head up to Dijon and walk around for an hour or so, and then get on the train to Paris from Dijon? There is a 30 minute or more wait in Dijon station to board the train to Paris.
So my question is, if we have a ticket from Beaune to Paris, with a stop in Dijon, can we catch an earlier train from Beaune to Dijon, using our same ticket? Do they care when you go from Dijon Station to Beaune Station, as long as it is on the same day?
Thanks for any advice.

I haven%26#39;t gone to the train website to figure out your trip for you but think about a couple of things.
1. Paris-Dijon / Digon-Paris - this is most likely a TGV trip. If so, you have reserved seats and cannot board any other time than what you booked. If the ticket is -not- TGV, then you can use the ticket any time the same day.
2. There are maybe 2 trips a day that go Paris-Beaune without Dijon. You might investigate booking a 3-ticket trip.
- Paris: Beaune (TGV or not)
- Beaune: Dijon (will be a local, not TGV) - use ticket anytime same day, compost it (stamp it) just prior to actually boarding
- Dijon: Paris (make it a local/regional if possible, if not then the latest TGV that you think you can make).
I%26#39;m not sure if you can put it together that way... but I do know you can%26#39;t use a TGV ticket for any time you choose, unless perhaps you get it exchanged or reticketed prior to the ticket%26#39;s departure; you have to read what the fare rules are...

You are really not going to do justice to this trip. We spent 4 nighs in Dijon with a rental car for a one day drive to Beaune. We certainly did not see as much as we would have liked. Took the TGV train from Paris to Dijon, then went on to Lyon and TGV back to Paris. Spent a week doing this with ten days in Paris.
Dijon is a wonderful place to explore with great museums ( closed Tuesdays) and little squares. Phenomenal architecture. Interesting Restaurants. One hour will certainly not be enough. Saying you have been to Burgandy is not seeing it.
Would suggest an early TGV from Paris to Dijon and spending the day exploring it. Stay overnight and then rent a car and drive to Beaune so you can see the wineries on the way.. Spend much of the day in Beaune and drive back to Dijon in the late afternoon. Driving is the best way to see some of the wineries. Drop the car off at the rentals right at the station and take the TGV back to Paris.

Thanks. You answered my question. We decided to just go to Beaune and visit to Marche aux Vins for tasting of wine and then head back to Paris. We are hoping for pleasant scenery on the train ride. My husband is concerned that I am cramming too much in our schedule, thus I am trying to scale back. Thanks.

You can rent bikes in Beaune and see some of the countryside that way, ending your day at the Maison des Vins before returning to the train station.

Hi I fully agree with Holger, but why not take a bus (Transco) from the train station (bus 44A) that goes along the vineyards to Beaune (45km).
