does anyone know if there are buses that run direct from calais to milan if so please can you supply some details. much apprechiated

Nothing direct, but try http://www.eurolines.fr/ who appear to have a service 3 days a week - Tues, Thurs, Sun - from Lille to Milan. It%26#39;s 66 euros single, leave 19.15, arrive 12.00 next day. There is also a service from London to Milan via Paris http://www.nationalexpress.com.
Have you considered Easyjet or Ryanair?

Cars Phoceen in Place Massena run the Lignes Express Regionale - they do the official long distance coaches - check them out.

Or BMI or Air Berlin? Among them they have service from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted to one of the three Milan area airports, the main ones being Malpensa and Linate, or to Orto al Serio, about 50 km from Milan.

Well since the question was posted in the Nice forum perhaps the OP meant Nice not Calais...
But in that case I%26#39;d take the train...
