It%26#39;s my first time in Paris, I will stay near Madeleine/ Opera, can you give me any information about this place? Restaurants, Shuttle Bus, Metro. Thanks

See Paris Story. Plays hourly on the hour. On rue Scribe near the American Express.
I like to carry the Paris Mapguide, available from amazon. Very cheap, very useful.

Watch out for dog poop on the sidewalk, they claim it%26#39;s getting better,i can imagine when it was bad.Paris is terrible expensive, the sites are nice, the Eiffel Tower puts on a 10 minute light show everynight starting around 10:45,it was the highlight of my trip.

%26quot;Shuttle bus%26quot;: I suppose you mean ex CDG. In this case, the most convenient means of transport is the Roissybus, that leads you straight to Opéra.

Rollingpins post contains a few errors.
First, the Effiel Tower lights up for 10 minutes every hour on the hour starting when it gets dark, so I suppose that varies.
Second, there is no more dog poop in Paris then there is the States. That statement is just plain annoying. I wonder the last time this poster was in Paris.
Lastly I found Paris no more exspensive then you make it. I mean ever tried to get a decent hotel in a nice area in New York for under 100 bucks , good luck on that. We found a lovely cheap hotel in a good area for 60 euros a night.
We found the food can be very cheap to very exspensive, we went budget to moderate.
An important bonus is that in France children under 18 are FREE in many of the museams and national monuments. I don%26#39;t believe that is true in the States, and I know it is not in Canada.
OP post hotel name , people will be able to give more precise info.
Frankly if you are healthy and weather is decent you can walk to many sites from that area.

rollingpin - REALLY ! We have discussed the dogpoop-thing before and I still don%26#39;t know how that myth ever got into circulation.
There is NO MORE dogpoop in Paris than in any other big city. Paris is maybe the cleanest city in Europe. The Green Men are up and about from 4:00 a.m. sweeping and washing and cleaning the streets everywhere. Even under the bridges of the Seine I have seen them at work with waterhoses and brushes.
You make it sound that you have to wear big rubberboots just to be able to walk the pavement safely.
I go to Paris twice a year and I have NEVER managed to put my unwary feet into any doggy leftovers. In fact I cannot remember having seen any, though I am sure they must be there....... lurking in doorways just waiting to throw themselves on rollinpin%26#39;s chaussures.......

Thanks for your help. I will stay in BW Sidney Opera in Rue des Mathurins. I see the reviews about the hotel and perhaps it%26#39;s nice. If you have more information, please tell me...
