Everything is terrible expensive in Paris, that place can make you a pauper,no wonder so many Europeans loves to visit other countries especially America, they must think they hit the jackpot when they see the price for food, hotel, clothes etc.

You will find plenty of reasonable clothing shops. We did lots of shopping for our girls just before Christmas last year and didn%26#39;t break the bank. I believe the sales are just twice a year--January and June/ July? Do a search here for %26quot;soldes%26quot;--they%26#39;ve been talked about. As for packing, it will be cool, maybe wet. Layer.

When ever I go to Paris I think how chic the Parisieenes are.
you should get 1st class advice from the well informed locals here.
France %26amp; Paris popularity can be judged from the official statisitcs.
Both combined have nearly everything to offer lke lakes mountain sea cities charm Museums old buildings food wine etc I certainly could not be bothered to cross the sea to go to America [apart from say Boston or Vermont.] particularly with the reception one gets so I am told from US customs.
Good shopping - will leave you to the locals expert advice as I know London so much bettter
Good hols Gerlis

Go into the Marais %26amp; walk the streets off rue de Rivoli - fashions galore, prices quite reasonable %26amp; a totally fun area. Dress for damp, cool weather.Umbrella, trench coat, sweaters. Walk %26amp; shop until you want to return again.

Sales in all likelihood will be over. I went in July and found great deals at Promod. You can google it for an online catalogue to give you an idea. Also sometimes you can find things at Monoprix. I must say that I was not impressed by how the parisian women dress in general. You expect more from the fashion capital.Very bland and very blah with beat up shoes. Perhaps they dress better when they go out at night. The only chic ladies I saw were the older retired ladies.

%26lt;is there any reasonable shopping ??%26gt; Bien sûr ! C%26#39;est Paris ! I do not know where to start ! I love Galleries Lafayette for one-stop shopping. However you may find the smaller boutiques more your style, and they are everywhere.
Pack for moderate weather, meaning not freezing and not toasting hot, but anything in between. Layers are the smartest thing. I usually wear a tank, a pullover or cardigan long sleeve and then a trench type coat that comes to my thighs. Early Oct., you may or may not need the coat during the day, but nights will be pretty cool. You can bring a scarf even though it won%26#39;t be freezing it can make you more comfy in the cool breeze and it is fashionable also.
PS- I am hosting a get-together on Oct. 11 for drinks and then a jazz club. There are several traveling alone that are attending, the post is listed under waytogo october get-together. If you are interested we would love to see you.

I have seen more dressed up people on the upper east side of NY especially on 5th,Park and Madison Ave than in Paris and London. Was window shoppong one night in Paris and saw in an ordinary boutique a pair of pants=700 euros, top to match=1200 euros and shoes=500 euros....a similar outfit in the USA would cost no more than $300US.How do these people stay in business?
