Two questions
1.If I hire my car at the airport in Perpignan, am I allowed to take it to Spain?
2. If I only have two days and it%26#39;s possible to go to Figueres, where else should I definitely not miss?

1. Only the company from which you rent your car can competently answer this question.
2. I have no experience in Spain but as a place to start isn%26#39;t Barcelona closer to your destination that Perpignan? Just south of Perpignan is Collioure, an excellent place to visit (in France).
3. For additional ideas on where to visit, if you haven%26#39;t already, pose this question in the Spanish Forum.

Thanks. It just happens that I%26#39;ll be in Perpigan, although I do, of course, know that Figueres is closer to Barcelona. I wouldn%26#39;t have chosen Perpignan as a base for any Spanish exploration. I just fancied visiting the Dali museum if I had time. Thanks for the other suggestion.

Apologies for my typo.

In the absence of a way to edit, it%26#39;s actually 60k from Perpignan to Figueres, so it is nearer than Barcelona, even if Barcelona seems a more sensible base.

You should have no problem crossing over into Spain with a rental car however remember that Spain has a rule about having a reflective jackets and a warning triangle in every car that enters the territory. Failure to have that equipment can result in hefty fines if you get stopped.
As for your trip I would highly advise you take the costal road from Perpignan by way of Collioure all the way to Figueres (go down to Cadaques if you can on the way and visit Dali%26#39;s house in Port Lligat neighborhood). It%26#39;s truly beautiful...

Thanks very much Kelly. A useful reminder.

Kelly, thank you again for your advice. We went to Port Lligat via Collioure, as well as Figueres. The area was truly stunning. No trouble with the border crossing and Carrefoure were doing a special offer on warning triangles and reflective jackets, a cheaper option than hiring them from the carhire company. What a useful forum this has been.
