Quiet hotel in Paris. Any suggestions?

Any advise on a clean, safe and quiet hotel in Paris will be appreciated.

We are going next November and after touring the city during the day, we certanly enjoy a good night sleep. I´m a light sleeper so we are looking foward to find a quiet location and enviroment ( not much street noise or paper thin walls)... Our budget allows us up to 120-150$/night. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

Things to look for, once you start receiving suggestions:

- check hotel%26#39;s photo on www.pagesjaunes.fr and look at the street

If the street is a side street, one row of cars, it will be a bit quieter

Make sure the hotel doesn%26#39;t reside over a cafe or bar or next to one

- make sure the hotel specifies %26quot;sound-proofing%26quot;

- take some squishy earplugs as a %26#39;back up%26#39; and a clothespin or two to make sure the curtains meet well to shut out any light

- scour the TA comments and see if anyone mentions interior noises, doors or elevators, or people talking (or whatever) in the room next door, etc.

The 7th is reputed to be %26#39;dull%26#39; and quiet at night - many govt buildings and residences and fewer bars and %26#39;night life%26#39; activities

We%26#39;ve stayed in the 17th around metro Villiers - that might work for you, also parts of the 14th (not on blvd Montparnasse, but find a side street)

You%26#39;re looking for doubles for 95-115€

Hotel Moulin Vert (14th)

Hotel de l%26#39;Avre (15th)

Hotel Monceau Etoile (17th)

We stayed at the Relais du Louvre in the 1st in June and absolutely loved everything about it. www.relaisdulouvre.com. the rates on their site are correct. The average posted on TA is way too high. I am not sure what their rates are for November but in June they did have some doubles around 150 euros which might go over your budget. But hotel is very well located. It was also very quiet. We faced the courtyard and had no noise. Walls are thick and also had no noise from other rooms. A friend faced the street and also found it quiet but I prefer the absolute silence of the courtyard and am willing to give up a view.

Hotel e-mail is contact@relaisdulouvre.com

The quietest hotel we%26#39;ve stayed in anywhere was theTrypp De Saxe in the 7th near Unesco.

Thanks all for your suggestions. I´ll start looking ...

Try the Bonaparte, in the 6th.

Many thanks for your responses...

Any other experiences with quiet hotels?

Yes, the Hotel Argenson, a small family owned hotel off Boulevard Haussman. Only 26 rooms. They are only a 2 star, but probably at least partially because they don%26#39;t have breakfast room , but breakfast is delived to your room by a smiling chambermaid ( Bonjour Madame!) at exactly the time you specify. We enjoyed eating it at our little tablle by the window in our room.It is very much a business area , so it becomes very quiet at night. We have stayed there twice- the first time their little daughter was studying by the checkout desk while her parents worked. When we came back, she was managing, in the company of the family poodle.

It%26#39;s a short walk to a Metro stop and we were able to walk to the Champs from there.

I am pretty sure the cost is below your budget at all times. I don%26#39;t necessarily agree with their decor- lots of garish floral prints- but love the hotel.

I%26#39;ve stayed at these quiet hotels in Paris, all within the past year. (I%26#39;m a light sleeper, too). I%26#39;ve stayed at a few others but wouldn%26#39;t recommend them so they aren%26#39;t included. I prefer the Left Bank, so most are there.

1. Lenox Montparnasse, 15 rue Delambre, 14th;

2. Hotel de Notre Dame, 19, rue Maitre Albert, 5th;

3. Hotel Pas de Calais, 59, rue de Saint Peres, 6th;

4. Metropolitan Hotel, 86 rue de Longchamp, 16th (formerly called Hotel du Rond de Longchamp, or something like that).

I stayed at the Hotel de Notre Dame for €90/nt in August. It had free wireless, and the location is unbeatable for that price. The others may be slightly more than your budget, but are all under €140/nt.

Best of luck. Have a wonderful time in Paris.

OK. I´ll check those recomendations too...

For us, light sleepers who like to travel, a guidebook of quiet hotels arround the world would be wonderful...!!
