Seine cruise and Illuminations tour by ParisVision

Hi all,

My husband and I are thinking of taking this cruise+tour when we visit Paris in late Oct. Since it starts at 7:30pm and doesn%26#39;t end till 10pm, should we have dinner first or after? I know that Europeans dine late but don%26#39;t know how late the restaurants usually stay open. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant near the Louvre? That is our departure point for the cruise, where the ParisVision%26#39;s office is (214, rue de Rivoli – 75001 Paris ). We will like to have a separate dinner rather than a dinner cruise because we have heard that it%26#39;s better to do it that way; that the food on the cruises is not as good as what you can get in the restaurants. Please correct us if we are wrong.

BTW, have anyone done this tour before and care to give any comments?

Thanks!

I took a illuminations tour w/moulin rouge on my first trip to Paris several years ago. I have taken a couple seine cruises, with and without dinner. Personally, my choice would be to do either of the following:

1. Take any of the seine cruises on your own just after dusk and you will see many of the monuments (illuminations ) during the cruise. Then have a nice dinner on your own.

2. Take a less expensive dinner seine cruise. I really enjoyed this company. We paid only 59 euro each had plenty of wine, four courses and honestly the one of the best creme brulees I have ever had. It is true that the food could be beat somewhere else, but for the price it was very nice eating while going down the seine river.

You don%26#39;t need a tour company to take a seine river cruise and the illuminations tour at the same time will feel like more of the same. This is of course is IMHO. For seeing an overview of Paris tour, I highly recommend L%26#39;Open tour. You can get on and off at will and you could do this at a different time from the seine cruise.

Take a cruise from Bateaux-Mouches or Vedettes de Paris and skip the dinner. Either of those will give you time for dinner before the cruise. A normal Seine cruise at night will go past all the illuminated buildings along the river--you don%26#39;t need that as a separate thing.
