Walks in/around VSM with pushchair?

hi - we%26#39;re about to spend 2 weeks in VSM, we%26#39;re looking for walks we can do with our 6 month old baby in his 3 wheeler buggy. Any advice on recommendations/ walks to avoid very welcome! We%26#39;re fairly fit and don%26#39;t mind a hill, however don%26#39;t want to be lifting the buggy over stiles or cornering precipes!

thanks

Hi there

You should find most places accessible for you with the buggy. My sister and her husband came over last year to see us with my six week old nice and they managed to get about ok.

Be warned though, there are a lot of steps in Villefranche but to make up for it everyone is so accomodating for babies and children. The waiters are so friendly and everyone is so helpful.

Anyway, let me know if you would like any more advice, but I%26#39;m sure you will have a fantastic time!

On your doorstep - the Promenade Maurice Rouvier all along the Italian-facing side of Cap Ferrat from Beaulieu to Port St Jean - its made for family strolls and its beautiful

Exit Villefranche far side of the beach - steps the only tricky bit - then along Av Louise Bordes to Pont St Jean, down towards Beaulieu, then off up the length of Cap Ferrat. Its paved and perfect all the way

1.The walk along the seafront beside the Citadel to the Port de la Darse and beyond is an obvious one.

2. One of the best, with a good surface all the way is to go to the eastern end of the beach, climb the flight of steps and continue straight on until you get to the traffic lights. Cross here with great care (dangerous junction) and continue down hill with the Hotel Riviera on your right, turn right immediately after passing the hotel and there is a beautiful, level footpath beside the sea as far as St Jean. Total distance about a mile or so. From St Jean you can continue as far as you wish around the Cap. If you get as far as the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat and you are fairly smartly dressed, afternoon tea in the garden is value for money in this otherwise very pricy hotel.

3. Instead of turning right at the Riviera as above, you can go straight on into Beaulieu (only five mns or so) and as far as you wish towards Monaco with a footpath beside the road all the way.

4. There is also a footpath beside the road to Nice. (About two miles) If you are able to carry the pushchair up a long flight of steps, over a short stretch of rough ground and then push it up a long hill, one of the best walks in the area is up on to Mont Boron. After leaving Villefranche on the way to Nice, look for path which climbs steeply up the hillside with what looks like a wooden railing (actually concrete). There are many surfaced very quiet roads in the Parc Du Mont Boron with magnificent views of Villefranche and of Nice. Elton John has his villa up here.

I don%26#39;t advise walking inland further than the Basse Corniche (main road) in Villefranche itself as you have a choice between hundreds of steps or narrow roads with traffic going very fast.
