Hi, four of us are travelling to Charles de Gaulle Airport on 13th October (Friday the 13th !!) ..should arrive at 13.40. We then have to get to Gare de Lyon asap as we have 2 possible trains about 15.00pm.
Question..will we make it in time ina taxi? Should we try and get there by some other means?
We did want to catch a TGV direct to Dijon but seems all tickets are gone!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Seurat.

If flight is on time you should be fine. It takes 30-40 minutes to get into town unless there is an accident on the peripherique or something.
You can also take RER to Chatelet and them line 14 to gare de Lyon.
An option since you may have to wait for a taxi that will take 4 people.

Hello,
Say thats not a lot of time..........not even an hour and a half........right? You will have to wait for your luggage, get through customs (which is usually a no timer) then when you get to the gare find from where your train will be leaving.
As said it will probably take at least a half hour to gare de Lyon, very possibly more, depending on what the traffic is like getting into Paris and then getting through the city traffic to the gare when you do get into Paris.
I would suggest you not waste any time. Perhaps someone in your party could wait in the taxi line for a big enough cab while the others get the luggage from customs. And, as suggested, you could consider the REF....no traffic to consider that way.. Air France buses also go pretty regularily from right in front of the airport directly to gare de Lyon.............You might check with them when you arrive to see when the next one leaves.
What%26#39;s up that all the tickets on the TGV are already sold out? You might want to check that again.
Have a good trip.

I don%26#39;t want to burst anyone%26#39;s bubble - but my experience has been that you don%26#39;t stand a chance of getting to GdL in time to catch a 15:00 train unless the planets are all miraculously aligned and you hear the tinkling of ice in the netherworld -
Is there any possible way that you can get an earlier flight? The later in the day that you fly, the more likely that you%26#39;ll do an extra couple of circuits around CDG before landing, and the more likely you%26#39;ll wait an extra 10 or 15 minutes for your luggage. And you don%26#39;t have 10 or 15 minutes.
Personally, I have never gotten out of CDG in even 30 minutes with carry-on only. I realize that you all will be able to use the EC lanes, and that might help, but I come from North America and arrive at 07:00 or so - which I think would be the great equalizer since there are fewer flights landing at that hour.
If you can%26#39;t get an earlier flight, then plan on a later train. Dijon is lovely, but it%26#39;s been there for a while, and I%26#39;m sure it will be there an hour or two longer, and you folks will be a lot less frazzled and enjoy your first evening a lot more if don%26#39;t have such a rush.
BTW - being in an impossible rush is the perfect way to ensure that your taxi will get stuck in traffic. Take the RER.

There is a train at 16:44.
I would book that one, with the possibility of sneaking on the earlier one--waiting in the snack bar until the train pulls out, then finding a seat. There are usually more empty seats in first class.
Others will disagree, but I order SNCF tickets over the phone and have them mailed to my home.

Wow...great info%26#39; - thank you everyone.
We are comitted to the arrival time as there is only the one flight that we can catch. We have to get to Dijon asap as we are attending an important evening reception/dinner.
I have been confused by the French train system! I had been told that I had to catch a TGV direct from CDG...the only such train I found was in the evening and of course too late. I then discovered the trains leaving from G de Lyon, but hadn%26#39;t realised until I visited the SNCF website (thankyou!) that some of these trains are TGV%26#39;s.
Knowing what Paris traffic is like I think the safest option could be this RER (?) train. Do we catch this from the CDG terminal.....will it be easy to find and use? Do we get tickets on the day?
We don%26#39;t have a great command of the French language between us, and our ability to ask questions on the day will be very limited!!!
Thank you all again for your help.

I usually figure 45 minutes to deplane, clear immigration and retrieve luggage.
Ratp estimates 42 minutes to Gare de Lyon using the RER.
You really can%26#39;t plan to get there by 1500.

Thanks for the advice Franophool. I think we have to resign ourselves to catching a later train!

No way will you make it even in a Taxi and on roller skates to Gare de Lyon!
Did you look into taking a short plane ride? Look into it now as you might be able to find something even cheaper than the train!
(Usually 2 weeks prior time needed to reserve!)
I hope you can find a solution to this problem! and have a nice time.

RER to Châtelet, and then ... RER to Gare de Lyon ! Why the need to change for line 14 at Gare de Lyon, which involves walking up to the main concourse of Châtelet, going through one more ticket barrier, and eventually reaching Line 14 platforms, when there is a CROSS-PLATFORM connection between RER B southbound and RER A eastbound at Châtelet-les-Halles ???
The rail connection will give you the best reliability (it is a firm 45 minutes). I you really want the surface connection, the AF bus will follow exactly the same route as a taxi and costs less.

Well I%26#39;m overwhelmed with info%26#39;....am going to keep all these detail for permanent reference.
I will let you know how we get on in a few weeks. If you don%26#39;t hear from me then you know I caught the wrong train!!!
Thanks again to you all
