Dec. 24 Museum Hours and Versaille Pass Question???

Hello,

Does anyone know if museums and monuments are open regular hours on Dec. 24th? Is it safe to assume they will all be closed on Dec. 25?

Also, which parts of Versaille does the Paris Museum Pass cover?I%26#39;ve read it covered some palaces there, but am rather confused whether it covers enough so I don%26#39;t have to buy the day pass.

Thank you!

You%26#39;ll need a Paris expert to answer the Xmas question. I do know that the Eiffel Tower is open its reg hours everyday of the year.

As for Versailles you can email to check when they close at Christmas time: direction.public@chateauversailles.fr.

The PMP gives you entry to the State Apartments, Hall of Mirrors, the Trianons, and the gardens (except weekends in high season). The rest of MA Domain is not included but closed in low season anyhow. Also not included are the Private Apartments %26amp; the Opera, and Mesdames apts (only open weekends and exclusive to the one-day pass). Audioquides (6E) are also extra.

The Pass gives you the best value IF you wish to visit everything, esp on weekends in high season (25 E). In Low Season less is offered and the pass is only 16E, all audioguides are included with it.

If you do not wish to purchase the one-day pass, I highly recommend purchasing the guided tour of the Opera %26amp; Private Apartments to suppliment the PMP; worth every penny. At least consider buying ticket to Private Apartments, the audioquide is included. I think the prices this past summer were 7E for the guided tour, and 4.50 E for entrance with audioquide. Since there are only limited English tours, go to Entrance D to sign up, as soon as you arrive at the Chateau.

It is pretty safe to assume everything will be close, yes.

You can check individual websites of museums you want to visit, and most, if not all, will tell you which holidays they are closed. Versailles%26#39; calendar says the Chateau will be open on Christmas Eve. Christmas is on a Monday this year, so it would be closed regardless. The Grand Trianon is usually still open on Monday%26#39;s, but will be closed on Christmas. The Chateau is closed all of New Year%26#39;s Eve weekend (Sat, Sun, Mon), but the GT will be open.

When you visit individual museum websites, you will typically find a link called %26quot;Practical Information%26quot;, and in addition to posting normal hours of operation, ticket prices, etc., the musuem will list all the days it will be closed. Musee d%26#39;Orsay, for instance, says %26quot;The museum is shut on Mondays and on January 1, May 1 and December 25.%26quot;

The Louvre says %26quot;The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Tuesday and the following holidays: January 1st, May 1st, August 15th and December 25th, 2006.%26quot;

You can find a link to all the musuems the PMP covers on the PMP website at www.parismuseumpass.com
