Futurescope or Puy du Fou?

I%26#39;m looking for a family %26quot;big ticket treat day%26quot; to include in our June 2007 trip to France (2 boys, aged 7 and 10). The itinerary is still evolving, so a place worth working in could be worked in!

My research so far seems to suggest that Futurescope and Puy du Fou are two well recieved and unique destinations.

Any thoughts on if you could include only one which one you would include?

Have I missed something better from my choices?

Thanks very much!

i%26#39;ll come back in a month and let you know, because we are planning on a visit to both when we%26#39;re in the area in Aug this year.

bojangles - did you get a chance to visit Puy du Fou and Futurescope? I%26#39;m curious on your thoughts?

It really depends whether you are more into technology or history...

Futuroscope is really worth it, (good) movies are projected on a huge variety of screens (360deg, dynamic, I-MAX, %26quot;under your feet and on ceiling%26quot;, etc.). They also have a %26quot;sound and light%26quot; night show on a lake, with lasers, fireworks... which is really good if the wheather is fine. Check the programs for this as I cannot remember if it is on every night. The inconvenient is the time that you can spend in the queues, summer period is particularly busy. You still might be fine in June though, as summer holidays start end of June in France.

I know less the Puy du Fou, but I know people who have been there with kids and they loved it as well. It is more oriented toward medieval shows.

Difficult to choose between the 2, but here is what I can suggest... If time is limited in your plans you could do both attractions by choosing evening tickets for the Futuroscope - cheaper, allows you from 7PM to see 2 movies (or 3 if you are quick) plus the show (that would allow you other visits in the area during the day) - and spending an entire day at the Puy du Fou. If time is not the limit then I%26#39;d do both taking a day for each!

Have a good time there anyway...

Thanks for the feedback - so far I haven%26#39;t really found anything bad about either (except for the Futurescope queues part...) and it sounds like both would be worth doing. Still early in the planning process, so trying to do both is definitely in the back of my mind - that idea of doing the evening at Futurescope is an interesting twist.

thanks!
