Hello, considering a family trip to France next year, with three kids( 16, 14, 10) . I thought perhaps camping, one of the type of campgrounds where you can rent a chalet , cabin, or pre set up tent. We don%26#39;t want to haul alot of stuff with us, and will rent a car and occaisonally stay in hotels in some cities.
Looking at Normandy, Lot, or perhaps the south. Will start in Paris( hotel) for a few days .
I know French campgrounds are different then ours, but don%26#39;t even know what to start with.

Try www.eurocamp.co.uk
I think you might be able to bok accommodation only with them. If not, there is loads of useful info on top-rated sites anyway - many of which you can contact direct and book mobile homes / chalets.
I have used this company more than a dozen times with only good things to say.

There are quite a lot of companies, mostly attracting British, Irish, Dutch and Scandinavians. Jane has mentioned eurocamp - others are www.keycamp.co.uk/ and www.canvasholidays.co.uk/ (which does mobile homes as well as tents, despite its name). We%26#39;ve used all of them on different occasions and they work well for teenagers. They generally use big sites with lots of facilities, some of which will also have their own accommodation to rent if you go to the campsite%26#39;s own website. You may have to book complete weeks in July and August.

Hi Joan,
My kids are currently 6, 10, 14..... Very similar to yours. We have stayed in La Vallee Campsite in Houlgate in Normandy. We like it a lot.
We use keycamp. We rent a 3 bedroom mobile home with 2 bathrooms. The kids sleep at one end and we have an ensuite at the other end. Enough room not to trip over each other.
The site itself is nice - its on a hill with views of the sea. The pool is OK: can get warm, best used in the evenings or mornings. There is a restaurant on site but we prefer the restaurants in the town. There are quite a few. The town has a long promenade beside the beach which you can walk in the evenings as the sun sets.
There is an intermarche supermarket in nearby Dives sur Mer.
This location is ideal for visiting Liseux, Caen, Bayeux and the D-Day beaches. Houlgate itself is a very nice town. You can also do the cidre routes as well.
Hope this helps.

Diz - just read your last sentence. Keycamp don%26#39;t seem to have a problem with partial weeks in July or August.
But, Joan, you would need to book a little in advance if you want your choice in the 2nd half of July/Month of August.
