I%26#39;m planning to visit paris this winter, and, looking at the hotels that rate the best, I%26#39;ve noticed that the beds look tiny.
My fiancee is almost 7%26#39;, and no good sleep = holiday from hell!
Is there any well located hotels with character that also have big beds? (King?)

Beds 2 meters long are very common in France (2 meters %26lt; 7 feet). Overall they are perhaps much smaller than those to which you have become accustomed.
You may have better luck (bedwise) if you try American Chain hotels (Mariott, Holiday Inn, etc.) or upscale French chains; Mercure for example.

hey b -
I think you%26#39;ll have to bite the bullet and forego the character - character almost always translates to high rates and small rooms.
The American chains are going to be the ones if you want a king bed - they will also be the ones with a shower of an adequate size and a shower head that%26#39;s set high enough that your fiancee will not have to kneel to bathe.
Bon voyage.

We had a king size bed at the Hotel Lutetia, a hotel with lots of character in the 6th (think art deco). Our deluxe room was quite generous in size. My husband is 6%26#39;6%26quot; and he was very comfortable.
Have a great trip!

Bed size and the height are important to us!
I can not stand the French beds that are around a foot in height! I had knee surgey and the bed is so close to the floors it allows little keverage to get out of the bed! Also the mattresses can be difficult also! some have no second mattress ( springs) just a board covered in vinyl and connected to 4 short legs!
You have to ask about the size and specific about the beds when you request information about a hotel and reservations. Just getting an American Chain of hotels doesn%26#39;t necessarily mean you will get an American type bed.
We did not find many king size beds on our 90 day trip in France.

%26quot; keverage%26quot; .... sorry I meant leverage

Thanks for your replies...I guess I might have to trade the charm for the comfort, but, oh well, the bed is just to sleep, and the very charming city is out there! :)
Thanks again!

Look for beds that measure 180 x 200. That is about the largest you will find in France. MANY, MANY hotels, B%26amp;B%26#39;s have only 140 x 190 and they consider this a double bed. I couldn%26#39;t sleep with my child in that tiny bed, so be careful and look. They do exist (the 180 x 200). Most B%26amp;B%26#39;s and hotels will state the bed sizes on their websites. If they don%26#39;t, you will have to ask.
Otherwise, many hotels will put together two 90 x 190 or 90 x 190 centimeter beds to make a large double. They normally make up together quite well, so I would not be too put off by that choice.
Have a great time and happy sleeping.

I have an apartment rental on my Paris trip research %26quot;short list%26quot; (I guess that is an ironic name given the topic!) because it has a King sized bed (I%26#39;m 6%26#39; and my husband 6%26#39; 3%26quot; - not quite the 7%26#39; consideration, but a big bed requirement nontheless), central location (Isle St Louis) and worked out to 100E per night if we stayed the week, and for us also had a mezannine with single beds for the kids. We haven%26#39;t stayed there, so this isn%26#39;t an experience based reccomendation or anything like that, just the King bed requirement hits close to home! I know you are looking for a hotel rather then apartment, but figured it was worth passing this one!(not that I am trying to get someone to use this apartment so they can tell me what it is like ;-)) It is at http://www.parisabcd.com
