travelling outside paris

Is it feasable to take a trip to Provence from Paris for one day. I have heard the fast train would be the way to go.

Does anyone have any other suggestions about other areas that could be seen throughout France in a day trip

Hello fellow Canadian,

Provence would be a poor choice for a %26quot; daytrip%26quot; if even possible, even a fast train will take hours , and then return, so what, to spend only 3 or 4 hours in a town! At quite an exspence also.

Daytrips from Paris that are easy as pie, Chartes, Giverny, Versailles, these are easy and you can just take a train. Not long comutes.

Also doable but require a bus tour or car rental would be Loire Chateaus, Mont St Michel or Normandy D Day beaches.

Two reputable bus tour companies that you can just look up online( just google or yahoo) are Cityrama or ParisVisions. Both are not cheap, I took the Cityrama tour of three chateau last year, it was 147 euros, but, it was worth it, a long day, but easy to do, no line ups, a nice guide and no hassle.

If you don%26#39;t mind driving then renting a car is cheaper( for two persons) and most likely a lot more fun being on your own schedule. Many posters suggest taking the train out of town then renting a car outside Paris to avoid the Paris traffic.

Hve fun and read these boards alot, there is tons of useful info here.
