Have been reading my way around the site, but need advise on a short travel ticket.
We are Staying for 4 nights at the Marriot resort near DLP. we want to do the tourist thing in Paris on Sunday 8th and Monday 9th October.
Traveling with Hubby, and three kids 14, 12 and 8.
I cannot climb to many stairs due to bad knees, so worried about the Metro. Would the buses in Paris be a good thing? Also checked out the RER sites recommended and think getting train from Val d%26#39;Europe would be Good?
Any advice?

Buses in Paris are great and pass the tourist sites. Each ride is a Metro ticket, and a Carnet of 10 tickets is discounted %26amp; children %26lt;11 half price. You can also switch lines, but unlike the Metro there are no transfers and each ride is a separate ticket
The most popular line for tourists seems to be #69. Starting by the Eiffel Tower and ending at Pere Lachaise Cemetary. Each stop is clearly marked with the # of each line on the sign. It takes you by the Invalides with Napoleon%26#39;s Tomb %26amp; Army Museum, d%26#39;Orsay Museum; Tuileries with L%26#39;Orangerie and the Louvre, Notre Dame %26amp; more.
Rick Steve%26#39;s Paris book combines the 69 bus with a lot of practical info. Also detailed in guidebook are other bus lines, as well as walking tours. Highly recommend.

Loves-luxury,
I concur with Tricia27. Buses will be a great way to bop here and there. It is very easy and you get to see things to boot! I was so surprised to find so many stairs (sans elevators, etc.) with the underground metro (in other words, yes, the ADA (%26quot;American Disability Act%26quot;) does not apply in France! LOL!) . Otherwise, walk, walk, walk! (unless your knees give out...I really did not need the metro and/or bus much anyway as we walked a lot. Paris is highly walkable!). You likely will not deign to climb the stairs to Sacre Couer, but there is so much you will be able to do and enjoy!

Thanks for those tips and advice. Will look for the book recommended.

I also have dodgy knees and am asthmatic as well so avoid stairs whenever possible. There is a link to stations which are suitable for weelchair use - ie they have lifts. I can only find a French version but it%26#39;s resonably straightforward.
http://www.ratp.fr/ then click on #s%26#39;informer# at the top. From there click on #facilites d%26#39;access conforts et services# in the bottom left of the circle. In the panel on the right hand side click on
#Consulter le tableau des lignes faciles d%26#39;accès en 2006 : bus, tramway et métro, RER. # This then gives an alphabetical list of metro and RER stations which have lifts.
Phew!
Oh by the way, the buses are great but if travelling any distance trains are better.
Hope you have a great trip.
