We have rented an apartment at 51 rue Censier int he 5th. I%26#39;ve ben studying the map and it looks like we should be able to get off at Denfert Rochereau and walk to the apartment.
Is this realistic? Are there alot of stairs to climb? I%26#39;m trying but have still not become an expert at light packing.
We could take a cab from CDG. Your suggestions are most welcome. We have never stayed in this particular area of Paris so I appreicate your wisdom.

You are just off rue Monge and rue Mouffetard in the 5th arr (Denfert R. is in the 14th).
The closest RER stop is Port Royal... but I recommend that you go on to Denfert Rochereau and then get a taxi outside the station. It is too far to walk with luggage (over 1.5 km). Even to walk from Port Royal is over 1 km. It would take a couple of metro changes if you were to continue on that way.

Denfert R. RER station has an elevator, if it%26#39;s working.

I stayed in the same area this summer and took the RER to Denfert-Rochereau because of this station has an elevator. It worked just fine. It took some time though to get a taxi from the taxi stand, as it is not a major taxi stand as e.g. in Gare du Nord. If you have to wait too long there is a café next to the taxi stand, where you could buy a coffee and have them call for a taxi.
The taxi ride was only 10 euro.
You will love the area around the square at the lower end of Rue Mouffetard and you also have Paris%26#39;s no. 1 prize winning bakery %26quot;Boulanger du Monge%26quot; very close by. There is also the market with fruit and veggies and a butcher%26#39;s in the same square that sell roasted chickens and potatoes. There is a delicatessen (Charcuterie) where you can buy jucie ham and paté and dried saussages - and on the opposite side of the square is a Nicolas winestore with a wnderful range of wines.
A little (200 meters) north in Rue Mouff is a FranPrix where you can buy water and groceries at cheap prices.
Remember to go to the square Sunday morning at 11:00 - if the weather is fine there will be musette playing and singing together.

Thanks for the info. sounds like wew are going to really like staying in this area.
Are you not recommendingthe Port Royale stop for a particular reason?
I was hoping to save time sitting in traffic by taking the train. Maybe not huh?
|||
Only b/c I don%26#39;t know if there is a taxi stand there, but I do know there are taxis outside Denfert Rochereau, which is a bigger station and also a transport link to Orly, so more likely to have a taxi.
|||
To clarify, you can definitely use the RER/train from CDG over a taxi for the full route, but you might want to take a short taxi ride once you reach the RER Denfert-R station, as opposed to continuing via metro or bus (and too far to walk it). There shouldn%26#39;t be a traffic problem b/t D-R and your apt. really.

There are no elevators at Port Royal - even it is closer.
|||
Gitte, there _are_ elevators at Port-Royal, at least from the southbound platform: one from the platform to the ticketing concourse and another one to the street (there are also escalators and a special ticketing gate for bulky luggage).
There are indeed elevators at Denfert-Rochereau, they%26#39;ve been there since 1998 or so, and I%26#39;ve always witnessed them working (and I have stood countless times into that station).
Suzanne, an all-transport connection would be bus 91 from Port-Royal to Les Gobelins, but you%26#39;d better indeed hop off at Denfert-Rochereau and take a cab just in front of the station - where there is a taxi rank. PRL and DEN are short of 500m to each other.
