Book a hotel now for Summer 2007?

Hello everyone,

I%26#39;m a solo female traveler planning to visit Paris for the first time next July. I%26#39;ve noticed what appear to be some good internet deals on hotels if I book now--up to 45% off, with (of course) some restrictions on cancellation. Hotel des Grands Hommes, Hotel du Pantheon, Hotel Jardin de l%26#39;Odeon all have special offers. Should I book now, or would I be better off waiting and seeing? On the one hand, if I book now I%26#39;ll be able to upgrade to a better room I might not otherwise be able to afford. On the other hand, I don%26#39;t want to be rash. Perhaps I could find an even better deal later... I booked a London trip about 4 months prior to leaving and did very well price- wise. Can someone offer some advice on Paris? When is the best time to book a hotel?

P.S. I%26#39;m leaning towards the Hotel des Grands Hommes, even though it seems somewhat farther from a metro stop than my other possiblities. How far of a walk is it really?

P.P.S. Should I try to avoid the end of Tour de France in July? Is it terribly crowded then?

Thanks to all in advance!

I booked all my hotels 9-10 months in advance for my tour of France!

I would go ahead and do it.

I also buy Travel Guard Insurance ( Cruise,Tour and Travel policy) for non -refundable deposits if you have an emergency come up and need to cancel you get the money back. You can total a dollar amount for hotels now and then add the air at a later date.

I just did this for a condo I am renting for 6 weeks next summer!

Also if you go to certain places in France (ie. Coilloure) many of the beach location hotels book up by December.

Many French go on vacation during the summer months and many have already booked for their favorite places!

If it is not the Tour de France, it is the air show, the football, or the Tennis Open, go and enjoy!

I always book in the autumn the year before my next summe vacation. I have already booked an apartment for June 2007.

Then I would normally e-mail the hotel about 2 weeks before arrival just to make everything is OK and to let them know my time of arrival etc.
