Do you have any experience with these hotels: Hotel Jardin de L%26#39; Odeon, Hotel Le Clos Medicis, and Hotel St. Paul. Thanks..

I came very, very close to booking the Hotel Le Clos Medicis in the 6th last year. It looks nice, very stylish and in a great area. I have been told it is very nice and also that it has a loyal gay following if that matters at all. It has a more modern almost %26quot;south beach%26quot;%26quot;meets NYC style, not the typical Parisian standard.
I decided against it because I found the Hotel St. Jacques in the 5th and it was cheaper.

Thanks for your reply. I just looked up the Hotel St. Jacques and it is indeed intriguing. I had planned to stay in the 6th, however not far from that location. Could you give me any other information as to the safety of the area, how you found the location to be, etc? I haven%26#39;t ever traveled to Paris before, so this is all new to me. My husband and I like to wander and explore.

Safety would be like walking through a maternity ward after closing hours......
I walk everywhere in Paris and the 5th and the 6th arr. are so filled with tourists and life and light that being a %26quot;bad guy%26quot; must be a really tough job (%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; no dark doorways in which you can lurk with your long dagger drawn......)
|||
hahahaha! Loved your response! I%26#39;ve wandered dark, deserted areas throughout London, Amsterdam, Venice, Rome, as well as many major US cities without a care - never seen a drawn dagger now that I thik about it!

I%26#39;m a woman who has been travelling alone to Paris for years. I%26#39;ve never felt unsafe anywhere in the city, at any hour of the day or night.

We stayed at the Hotel Jardin de L%26#39;Odeon in May 2004. By emailing the hotel we got an excellent rate with breakfast that included along with cafe and croissants, cheeses, meats, yogurts and fruits. The hotel has been undergoing renovations and regretably we did not receive a renovated room. You can ask about that in an email.
The hotel is in an excellent location in the 6th, close to the Luxembourg Garden and within walking distance of many desirable sites: Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee D%26#39;Orsay, and varying restaurants and cafes in the 6th and the 5th arrondisements.
Bon voyage!

Thanks for your information. Did you get a room with a terrace? We emailed them last night and will see what happens..When I was trying to decide whether to book a hotel/air package or do it on my own, I was encouraged to enjoy the process of doing this on my own. I%26#39;m starting to get bogged down now, however. I will admit I have learned a lot in the process, but I%26#39;m getting confused too!

I wish you the best in your decision making. We did not have a room with a terrace or balcony although the hotel has them ... and they look lovely. The hotel interior terrace is charming and very quiet. And its location is fantastic ... in the 6th and on the edge of the 5th.
We most always choose our own hotels in Paris for then we can decide what we want and as important, our location. On visits in 2005 and 2006 we rented apartments which we much prefer over hotels, and in marvelous locations of our choice. Last July we rented an apartment from Parisaddress and the details worked out fine. If there are several people and you are staying a week or so, an apartment then becomes as reasonable, or more so, than a hotel.
Hope you find something that pleasures you.

Hi,
I stayed at the jardin de L%26#39; Odeon and had a great stay at a very reasonable 105euro/night. Check out there website for discounted deals.
Here%26#39;s a very long and detailed review I wrote about my stay (too long to post on tripadvisor).
