Brittany in October

Hi,

I%26#39;m planning on going to Brittany for a few days in October. I won%26#39;t have a car. Is it possible to travel around by train and still see some of the smaller towns? Also, in October, is it necessary to make hotel reservations or will most of the hotels have vacancies?

Thanks!

Hi , I am going to roscoff for three days in September, no car just a bicycle, so I will post more details for you when I get back.I know there is a railway station there and am fairly certain that buses run to Morlaix and St Pol de Leon, so you would be able to get out and about. not sure about hotel availability, but be aware that the cheaper ones probably cater for the ferry passengers more so than the %26quot;posh%26quot; ones, so probably get booked first .

Hi There

It really depends on where you are staying - trains are good and do go out to the outlying areas, but are still situated in the larger towns, rather than the rural villages, again buses are good in town, and you can get buses that go to the outlying areas, but they are few and far between. Ours runs twice a day, there and back basically into one of the larger towns.

At the end of the day it is possible, although may take a bit of planning. Our area you could manage it between towns such as Lannion and Guingamp - train. Paimpol, Treguier and Lannion - bus service.

Most hotels I would have thought will have vacancies. Most of the tourist board offices can find you somewhere to stay if all else fails so ask them.

Hope you have a good trip!

Jacqui
