Help Please

Hello,

Total novices thinking of driving from Scotland to France possibly Normandy next June for a couple of weeks and looking for help and advice please.

My husband isnt keen on boats so whats the shortest/best route to take? We would even consider the Euro Tunnel.

We are then looking for not too long a drive to somewhere nice.Preferably a town with a few restaurants shops etc.We have a 2 year old so dont want any more driving.

Also any suggestions of a nice house or cottage to rent.

Thanks

Twotwo,

We have stayed in the Keycamp site in St. Valery sur Somme in Picardy for the last 3 years.

Now, the camping may not be to your taste but the town is lovely. www.saint-valery-sur-somme.fr/

There are lots of things to do: the railway to Noyelles and Le Crotoy, The town itself is fab. You are also only about 90 minutes from Calais and 60 minutes or so from Boulogne where you could visit Nausicaa

I will get back to you - visitors have just arrived!! Sorry ;o(

The town of St. Valery isn%26#39;t very big but there are a few restaurants there and there is a an Intermarche Supermarket on the outskirts.

There are also some great beaches nearby: Noyelles and Le Crotoy. Fort Mahon is further up the coast. A little bit further up are Berck Plage and Merlimont Plage. These are great beaches with lifeguards and patrols and toilets (important if your child is potty trained). We like Merlimont Plage a lot.

Take a look at Chateau Drancourt on www.keycamp.co.uk There are other kids on site, there is an EXCELLENT restaurant on site as well. There are swimming pools, playgrounds and pony riding.

Our kids really like this site.

Driving from Scotland to France is going to cost a lot in fuel, overnight accommodation etc. Therefore, might it be worth your while considering budget airline flights? - Scotland to Stanstead and then Stanstead to Deauville or Dinard and hiring a small car. If you keep a look out on the Ryanair site you should be able to get a good deal. I don%26#39;t think there will be a lot of difference in the cost - especially taking into account the cost of eurotunnel in June.
