My wife and myself will be in Paris for a week from 28 September to 5th October, staying at the Hotel de la Sorbonnne. We are middle-aged (early 60s and early 50s resp.) but reasonably fit. We%26#39;ll be arriving at Orly Aiport.A direct taxti, I suppose would be way out of our budget. Which do yo think is the easiest and most hassle-free way to reach our hotel? Do you advise RER, the AIR France bus or an airport shuttle van, also considering the price/exertion ratio, and which line, direction or station? I would appreciate your advice.
Also: what kind of whetheather is usual (or expected) at this time of the year in Paris?
Thanks a lot in advance!

The easiest way from orly to your hotel is Orlyval + RER B : a driverless train shuttle from Orly airport to the Antony train station of the RER B, from where you will reach luxembourg/Saint Michel in 20 minutes. There are lifts all the way for the connections so you won%26#39;t have to worry for hauling luggage. It is a bit expensive though, at 9.10 euros.
You can also consider the Orlybus that will get you to Denfert-Rochereau for 6 euros. You will need another ticket for the connection to your hotel (bus line 38 or RER B).
Finally, there are the cheapest of all: Orlyrail, from the Pont-de-Rungis -Aéroport d%26#39;Orly station on Line C. There is a free bus shuttle every 15 minutes between Orly and that station, from where the RER C leaves every 15 minutes to Paris. You will get off at Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame and walk a few hundred meters to your hotel. It is cheap at 3.45€, though.
And the 183 + 27 bus connection, but that would really be for a student eating pasta !
Taxi will be under 30 euros.
The AF bus is not interesting for you (it serves other destinations in Paris).
Take your pick !

Hi janos,
We took a taxi to and from Orly to the 12th last June and if was only 24euros....for the four of us, each way. (Actually went to Budapest for a week). We did have excellent drivers who seemed to know the best roads to take. By the time you add up the costs of public transportation for two, you might do just as well taking a taxi.
The weather should be really nice but Paris is fickled about weather so try to be prepared. Not a bad idea to %26quot;layer%26quot; and to bring a rain coat.
We thought Paris was a bit like Budapest.............River in the center, lots of neat places to visit., good transportation, great food, wonderful opera house and nice people. Maybe less expensive than Paris depending on what you do.
Have fun.

Hie, Bea!
Thanks for the tip. I think we are going to do just as you are suggesting: take a taxi. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Budapest.
Best regards
