Hotel du Casino ( Clichey street) - horrible

I stayed at this place on Sept. 21st. The elevator is closet size. The room doesn%26#39;t have a bolt lock. It was just a door that had a button knob lock.

The bedspread looked like it hadn%26#39;t been updated for 12 years. The sheets seemed clean, but the noise from outside was not nice. I was trying to sleep in the afternoon (after an 11 hour flight) and left about 5 hours after to meet my friend at his family%26#39;s apt.

I booked this through Expedia.

IT%26#39;s too bad you had a bad experience at your hotel. Is it at the Place Clichy? That%26#39;s not exactly a quiet area...

One thing that should be noted, though, is that Parisian hotel elevators are almost always extremely small....

It%26#39;s too bad that you chose such a noisy area. I carry ear plugs just in case I do the same thing. It%26#39;s so hard to know.

Elevators in Europe in general have often been added to older buildings, and are seldom very large because of the limitations of the old construction. I am always just grateful that I don%26#39;t have to climb the stairs.

Next time search for the revues of your hotels here on the forum. THey almost always comment on whether or not a location is quiet.

In spite of those problems, did you enjoy Paris?

Yes, but I was in Paris 11 years ago. I did all the tourist things then. This time I visited with a friend of mine, and the experience was so much better. I re-visited the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Jardin Luxembourg, and Eiffel Tower. I wasn%26#39;t able to re-visit Champs Elysees. Paris seems different to me, b/c many new stores have been added to streets. Next time I would like to make it to the Picasso Museum and spend more time in Jardin Tulleries.

Rue de Clichey @ Moncey.

It%26#39;s 4 blocks away from the Moulin Rouge area. Blanche Metro stop.

|||

Please be more specific. Rue de Clichy does not go anywhere near place Blanche. Are you referring to boulevard de Clichy, perhaps?

Truffaut -

It is indeed on rue de Clichy, but the closest métro station is Liège, about 150 yards from the hotel. The Place de Clichy, St.-Lazare and Trinité stations are all closer to the hotel than Blanche which must be close to a half mile away.

I just took a look at the reviews for your hotel on this site. They seem to be generally positive. Too bad you didn%26#39;t like it.

There are certainly quieter places to stay in Paris, if quiet is what you are looking for, and many with more %26quot;charm%26quot;...

Better luck next time!
