I made an earlier post asking whether it was worth it to pick up a museum pass for a January visit. We did a lil%26#39; cost comparison, and the way it%26#39;s looking, for a couple euros more we might as well get the pass. So! Pass it is!!
I looked up the details at parismuseumpass.com and saw the different points of sale available. I was really hoping you could get them online :(
I wanted to see if anyone had tips or sugesstions for a convienent/quick/easy place to pick one up once we%26#39;re there. At the first museum we visit? Make a trip to the tourist office?
Thanks in advance for the advice!!

Your first museum would be the most obvious place, but if that is one with long lines it would somewhat defeat the purpose. So make your first museum visit one where you know the lines will not be a problem, buy your Pass, and away you go!
Not worth a special trip to the tourist office IMO...

A great museum with short lines is the Cluny: The Musée National du Moyen-Age. Or, if you want to start out at the Louvre, there is a way to buy a pass without going through the admission lines. Find the Espace Adhésion, which is located in the Allée du Grand Louvre, the passageway connecting the Hall Napoléon and the Galerie du Carrousel. It is a space for members and purchase of various types of passes -- student, professiona, and the Paris Museums and Monuments Pass. Look for a room with white leather couches near one of the Louvre%26#39;s gift shops. This is also a nice quiet space (with those nice couches) to meet up with other members of your party after touring the museum.

don%26#39;t buy it online. I got mine at the Cluny... was there a bit too early so stopped for coffee. When I got back there were about 9 people waiting and none of them bought the pass so it took me 5 minutes. Very easy. Some people say the pass isn%26#39;t worth it if you%26#39;re only going to see a few museums but I love not queuing up for entrance tickets and also being able to pop into other museums I might not have considered. So start your day at one of the smaller museums on the list and go from there. :)

Our first %26quot;museum%26quot; visit will, tentatively, be Notre Dame....where we wanted to go up in the towers. I know you can use the pass for admission into the towers, but can you buy passes here as well?
|||
Another place we%26#39;re planning to visit on the fist day is St. Chappelle....so I guess my question regarding Notre Dame applies here, too....can I buy the museum pass at this %26quot;museum%26quot;? Technically, I guess, it is a museum, although it%26#39;s not what really comes to mind when I think of it. Anyway, I digress..... :)

to the last poster:
You do not need a pass to go into Notre Dame itself . The pass works for the tower. I do not think it works for the Treasury though. Don%26#39;t miss it I think it is 3 E.

I%26#39;ll second Discover%26#39;s advice - go to the treasury and also consider the crypt underneath the plaza. It%26#39;s not a funerary crypt but archaeological and shows the Roman foundations the city was built on. As far as if you can buy the pass at Notre Dame or St. Chappelle I%26#39;m not sure, perhaps one of the experts will advise. Depending on where you%26#39;re staying you could stop by one of the other museums on the way just to get it. It literally only took 5 minutes.

Didn%26#39;t realize how close I was to the Cluny (staying on R. Saint Andre des Arts). So, I think we%26#39;ll take a stroll through the Latin Quarter, stop at the Cluny, grab a pass, and be on our way! Thanks for all the helpful advice!!!

Any museum is fine, but you will definitely want to buy it early in the day. I don%26#39;t think you save that much but the head of the line priveleges make it well worthwhile, particularly at the %26quot;hotter%26quot; museums e.g. the Orangerie.
