To buy (or not to buy) a carte orange?

I arrive in Paris on a THURSDAY and will be there for 11 days. I usually don%26#39;t buy a carte orange because the timing of my arrivals is usually off. Should I get one this time, buy on the Sunday after I arrive? I think it will then last me the duration of the trip?

I would... I love the convenience and I just feel so local using my little orange card. You%26#39;ll be there at least a week to use it and I think it%26#39;s a fantastic value. I%26#39;m actually disappointed that my next trip w/my mum she won%26#39;t be able to get hers (we arrive on Thurs and leave Tues morn.)

Thanks Grace for the info! I can%26#39;t remember if the weekly cartes are sold on Sunday or Monday?

|||

I seem to remember they start on Sunday and can be purchased through end of business on Tuesdays. You can then use them until the last train on Saturday night. Seriously... I loved mine. I hate to gush over something so mundane but it made life so easy: never had to worry about if I needed tickets, didn%26#39;t have to stop and get tickets or fuss with machines, could hop on as many trains as I liked as often as I liked. I felt like I could go anywhere and do anything with that one little ticket. :)

Hi Mascara:

I would buy the pass but I know I used mine alot!

I will jump on a bus just even for very short trips if one is going my direction and is there. I boought one on a Wednesday and used it 22 times (mostly Metro and some bus rides) at the end of a Sunday. At 15.80 per week it was a good buy for me!

If you plan to go to some places where you could be walking around to close places (ie the Marais) on the days without the pass then you could maximize the pass when you do get it.

It does really depend on what you plan to do. I had 4 days ( the month pass had dates that stopped in the middle of the week) where I just had to use tickets so I planned to walk or do things where I only needed a ticket to get there and a single ticket to get back.

Have fun! I will be thinking of you ! Give me the number so I can call you!

ok. I should have checked before I spoke... the pass is Mon-Sun but still an excellent value. Here%26#39;s Irish%26#39;s difinitive guide.

Mascara:

They are sold Sunday thru Wednesday for use Monday thru Sunday. At least that was what I was told last summer! I had to buy hubby a week pass for his week there.

|||

Sorry, I should have posted that the 15.80 was for a two zone pass. I also purchased one from a Tabac store on my CC.

BBZZZZTTTTT!!!

Sorrry, Discover. They are sold beginning on Friday for the week that begins on the following Monday. They are then valid through the following Sunday. You can continue to buy them through Wednesday for the current week.

Mascara, that means you can buy your CO on the day AFTER you arrive, or any time up to your first trip Monday morning. I%26#39;d probaly buy it on the weekend when the métro is less busy.

And yes, you should get one. They are one of the world%26#39;s great transportation bargains IMO...

|||

And they now cost 16€ for a Zone 1-2 Pass.

Actually, I%26#39;m glad they are a an even amount. The clerks seemed irratiated when they had to make change.
