CDG to Best Western Derby Eiffel in 7e

Hi, what is the best way to get from CDG to our hotel in 7e if we arrive midweek at 3:25pm? I%26#39;ve read in the forum that taxis are good, but I%26#39;m wondering if the metro would be cheaper? I also read that taking the metro is good if we only have carry-ons and it%26#39;s not rush hour. Well, we will be wheeling two luggages, but what time is rush hour? I don%26#39;t want to be stuck in the metro when it%26#39;s crowded since it will be our first time riding it. Thank you all.

The metro is going to be much much cheaper than a taxi. But I would suggest you take a taxi for the convenience especially since this will be your first visit.

I, on the other hand disagree - you%26#39;re not going to be in the Metro/RER system until the height of rush hour - you could get stuck and be a couple of hours getting into the city - so I say - take the RER/Metro - taxis are for non rush hour - I don%26#39;t see how you can miss rush hour with your arrival time - so use public transportation - it%26#39;s not quite as convenient but you%26#39;ll save money and time, and have an opportunity to rest before you first, fabulous, Parisian dinner.

Bon voyage.

What%26#39;s the address?

Hmm... both of you have valid points, ie. metro is much cheaper than taxi, but taxi would be convenient since it will be our first arrival in Paris, and I think we will definitely be heading into Paris during rush hour, since it will be after 4pm, but wouldn%26#39;t the rush hour crowd be too much for us since we will be carrying our luggage? I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons as well as the price and convenience of all the options. The address of the Best Western is 5 Avenue Duquesne, which is near the Ecole Militaire metro stop.

Taking the RER, then the metro, will involve long hallways, stairways up and down, narrow escalators. Most economical if you think you can manage your bags. Trains are very crowded during rush hour. You%26#39;d want to be very sure your valuables are secure.

A taxi would definitely be the most convenient. Our taxi fare to the 7th with traffic is typically around €55, but week before last it was €66 because of an accident.

You may want to consider Roissy Bus, which will drop you at Place de l%26#39;Opera and take a taxi from there. The taxi queue will be long, but the line moves quickly. Check your arrival terminal, then the CDG website for fares and where to find the Roissy Bus stop at your arrival terminal.

I know it doesn%26#39;t seem like a popular option on this site, but I used Parishuttle during my trip in May to transfer from CDG to our hotel in the 7e and really liked the service.

I%26#39;m all about convenience and using the shuttle provided the same door-to-door service as a taxi but without any surprises about the fare since it was a flat fee (19 euros per person each way for two of us).

I also saw a couple of people with luggage using the Metro during our stay and they didn%26#39;t look like they were having fun battling the turnstiles and crowds.

One thing about driving in as opposed to using the Metro is you get something of a tour of the city. I still remember the shuttle turning down the Champs Elysees and getting my first glimpse of the Arc de Triomphe! I also remember driving through some seedier parts of the city, too.

One final note on my experience with Parishuttle: I booked it late and didn%26#39;t have time to print out my confirmation before leaving (it takes about a day for them to send you a confirmation via email). Despite that, they had me in their system and I only had to give the driver my hotel%26#39;s address.

Thank you all for the great info. I think I have decided to just take the taxi. We will be in the middle of rush hour, but at least we can relax on our ride since it will have been a long plane ride by then. I did hear negative things about Paris Shuttle, so I think I%26#39;ll just pay a little more for peace of mind. Thanks again!

Have the address written down to show to the driver. You will pay the fare on the meter plus 1€ per bag. Don%26#39;t accept rides from people approaching you on the way to the taxi line.

It%26#39;s handy to go to www.pagesjaunes.fr and enter the address of your hotel (or wherever you are staying), then print a map for handing to the taxi/shuttle driver.
