Weather in mid november and apartment Rental in Paris?

Hi,

On my way back from a business trip to geneva, I have the opportunity to spend a week in Paris, and am thinking of taking it! having never been there before, this will be from the 12th to the 19th of the month

I am told the weather can be deary, but ill try to be a parisian and take it in stride, but realistically what can I expect?

Also I am planning to rent an apartment in Paris as some members in the forum have suggested. I have found a cute apartment in this location.

www.rentapart.com/carte.php…

close the les halles METRO station,

seems to be a nice enough area, is this correct? I have never been to paris before and dont have any idea.

Finally has anyone else rented an apartment with the this company? www.rentapart.com? The website etc seem legit!

thanks in advance for your help and insight!

Rajen

Can only help with the weather question----We were there last November and are still trying to thaw out (was wet and the winds came from Syberia). Just the same, I%26#39;ll take Paris anyway I can get it. Using the metro instead of walking helps get you out of the cold , and packing warm (but lightweight) clothes is a must for that time of year (had a hard time finding adequate warm clothes in Europe -- especially socks). For more complete weather info on a day by day basis for anywhere , anytime (based on historic data) -- check www.wunderground.com ----- have fun.

We were there last November and it was really cold. But I%26#39;m sure Boston must be cold at this time of year too. I love Paris in the winter. No crowds. For apartments I always book with vacationinparis.com. I booked last week for Thanksgiving week. You%26#39;d better hurry because they did not have much left. I picked out ten choices and she only had 4 left. Now she only has 3.

bostonram, the weather is a mixed bag at that time (like most times) in Paris. I was there at that time last year, a few days earlier and I had just about everything from 40s during the day to 60s !! Some rain and a couple beautiful days. There were still blooms in Jardin Luxumbourg too !

As far as Les Halles area, I stayed at Novetel Les Halles on my very first stay in Paris and while it is very, very central, I told myself it was the last time I would stay there. It is very commercial and not very charming. There of course is the big forum mall right there and some good jazz clubs around there at night. But, I much prefer the 4,5,and 6th districts in Paris to stay !! Most people will agree with me as these are very charming districts, still touristy, but in a different sense. If you are not sure of where to stay in Paris I can tell you that you can%26#39;t go wrong with one of those areas as a safe bet. There are other areas, including the 1st, that may suit you fine, but that depends on what you are looking for. I know I may have some negative feedback from locals who will argue that all of Paris is safe (and relatively speaking it is), but I did not FEEL as safe in the les Halles area at night as I do in the 5th or 6th where I stay.

As I said in your other thread Boston - don%26#39;t worry.

If your %26#39;pin%26#39; is positioned correctly you are not staying in Les Halles anyway and you are very well located.

I Never feel unsafe in Les Halles - I just think it%26#39;s icky.
