I understand the two different bus systems in Nice; the ligne d%26#39;azur and the TAM network. However, i%26#39;ve read that the fares change on the TAM buses once you%26#39;re outside the %26#39;tarrification%26#39; zone. If I was taking the route 100 bus from Nice to Monaco, do i have to pay two fares? (i.e. one within the linge d%26#39;azure zone and one for outside), or is it just a single fare of 1.30 Euros? Also, can someone please confirm that the route 100 goes directly from Nice Gare Routiere to Monaco (i.e. I won%26#39;t have to change buses).
thanks.

Hello
don%26#39;t worry, you won%26#39;t have to change buses, the 100 is fine, goes all the way to Menton and back. This year ALL fares are 1,30 euros whether on a TAM or a lignedazur. The bus driver still wants to know your destination when buying the ticket, so if for any reason , fares have reverted to the usual rates, then you will find out pretty quickly so have some extra money just in case! I do believe that at least until the end of 2006, it will still be 1,30 euros for all journeys. It is only a single fare, you have to pay another 1,30 on the way back. If you intend to use more than 3 buses in a day then the 4 euro 1-day bus pass might be the answer.
The only service that is not 1,30 euros is the 98 and 99 express buses from the airport to Nice, these tickets also serve as a day pass on all other buses for the remainder of the day.
best wishes

Do you have to have the exact change to buy a ticket from the bus driver or will he give you change back? (providing that I don%26#39;t give him a 20 euro bill or something for a simple 1.30 euro ticket).
thanks for the reply.

Hi Carla
You are right, they are fine about giving change, happily from a 5 euro or 10 euro note, but straying into 20 euro note territory might inflame them a bit!
In an ideal world, exact change, but don%26#39;t worry too much, they are pretty good with change. Try and get on the bus on the right hand side, everyone with a pass will shove through on the left and don%26#39;t forget to %26#39;compost%26#39; your ticket in the machine just by the driver or a little way down the bus. If it%26#39;s by the driver he or she will sometimes compost it for you. I have a page about bus trips which might be of use to you:

I thought it was worth a mention that the 4euro ticket will only get you on any bus within the Nice boundary. Last week we made a mistake that cost us nearly all our last few euros. on the day we were coming home, we decided to go to the airport early and leave our luggage there for the day %26#39;cos we were flying out at 21.55 and we wanted to spend our last few hours in Cannes. We thought the 4 euro tickets we had bought to get us to the airport could be used to get us to Cannes, Not so. We had to pay 13.75 euros each on the Cannes bus and, rather than pay the same amount to get us back to the airport, we decided to go to Nice on the slow bus for 1.30 euros Is this making sense so far? Anyway, after spending hours sitting on buses we arrived back in Nice with just enough money to buy our lunch in McDonalds Later we were allowed to use the 4euro ticket to go back to the airport. I,m still not sure about where the airport ticket can be used, I only know it is well to find out before our next trip.

Hi Cissie
I think (think) you must have used the RCA network, rapid transport network that links the airport with other towns using the express autoroutes. They have their own set of prices. The %26#39;slow%26#39; bus to Cannes (and it is slow, nearly 2 hours from Nice Gare Routiere) is only 1,30 euros. It must have been the one you caught back to the airport. However, I THOUGHT that the 4 euro day pass would have covered the slow Cannes bus, the 200 with all the fares being 1,30 euros this year. It could be that only lignedazur buses accept the day pass and not the TAM network. Perhaps someone else can confirm if the one-day pass covers trips made on the TAM network. The day pass could still be useful for trips out of NIce to Eze and Beaulieu and Cap Ferrat as these place are covered by a couple of lignedazur buses.

Hi. The mysteries of the riviera bus network! My tuppence worth .
The %26quot;tarrification zone%26quot; runs from Nice to only Cagnes sur Mer westwards, and Cap d%26#39;Ail eastwards.
A cash fare of one thirty will take you the whole way to Cannes and to Menton but %26quot;tickets%26quot; dont. - these will only cover you in the zone of tarrification. I guess the day pass is the same. Thats why despite being a flat cash fare the driver ask where you are going, so he can decide if your pass is good for your intended destination or not..
Basically I think its daft but about the way the flat fare ticket was agreed on.I doubt anyone really understands how it works

More TAM mysteries.
Does anyone happen to know if line 500 Nice – Grasse does not operate in October?
I wrote to TAM office – or was it ligne d’azur – no reply so far.
|||
The timetable for the 500 from the site:
cg06.fr/transport/transports-tam-lignes.html
says it %26#39;valid from 28th August 2006%26#39;, so I suppose it is the winter timetable and will operate during October. Is there a particular resaon why you suspect it won%26#39;t operate during October?
You can now also get the train from Nice to Grasse if you have no luck confirming the bus:

Thanks, AllAboutNice,
I looked up the # 500 timetable, it says September - June, I took it first to be June - September. Besides, the perfume factories in Grasse always direct me to go to Cannes for the connection.

Hello again,
There is something else I am not sure about.
I have information from I can%26#39;t remember, I think from Tripadvisor, in fact, about %26#39;15 euro for a week pass with unlimited travel%26#39;.
On the other hand, TAM site speaks only about Euro 10 for 10 tickets for general public, no mention of this 15 euro pass.
Does anyone know if it actually exists or not, and if it does, how should one name it to buy it ?
Needless to say, I stil have no response from TAM client service for this question. Not that I really expect any, response or service, whatever.
