lourvre ticket kiosks

Hey:

was going to order tickets online for the Louvre but it%26#39;s too late.

on their website it says something about ticket kiosks

are these at the Louvre or other places around Paris?

And, can you buy tickets from these kiosks at any time of day.

we are staying at a hotel near the louvre and wanted advanced tickets since we were going on a Sat am - I%26#39;m sure it will be busy.

thanks

FNAC store has tickets. Several sites throughout Paris; I know the one at 74 Champs-Elysees is open to midnight.

Tickets also available at the Louvre entrance in the underground shopping mall ,Carrousel du Louvre, on Rue de Rivoli, close to Rue de Richelieu, which is open til 7:30. Both do not open until late in AM, so best to shop the night before.

Both sites also sell the Paris Museum Pass, which can be used at the Louvre and multiply other museums and sites.

No problem getting tickets at the entrance if you enter from the subway, lots of shops also,it was just over 8 Euros per person.

Hi again...I am Robin the one going soon with 3 kids. I was thinking I read somewhere that you can get evening tickets at a discount. I was thinking that might be a good option for us...short bouts. Does anyone know how this works and if its less crowded?

Thanks!

Hi,

We went to the Louvre last Wendesday evening and paid 6 euros each.

We arrived just after six and stayed for a couple of hours. It wasn%26#39;t exactly quiet, but we found that it%26#39;s true what people say and that away from the star attractions, you%26#39;re often the only ones in the room. We found it very reasonable to get around, and it didn%26#39;t take us long to get our tickets. The only frustrations we had was actually getting into the Louvre (some people don%26#39;t know what a queue is!) and also, we found that most of the eating places close by 7pm.

Not that you go to a world famous museum to eat of course, but it%26#39;s nice to have a break. We haven%26#39;t visited during the day so can%26#39;t compare.

Remember that it;s closed on Tuesdays,it also says no pics or videos in certain areas but i saw a lot of people videotaping and taking pics including the Mona Lisa and if a guard sees you..all they do is motion you to stop.It%26#39;s a lot of walking and can get very boring.

Louvre is open Wednesday and Friday evenings until 9:45. Less crowded evening would be Wed.

Closed Tuesday, free 1st Sunday each month but understandably very, very crowded.

Robin here is the web site for Louvre. It is free for children under 18.

There is also a list of where you can buy tickets to the Louvre when in France. Usually if you go in through the mall entrance the line is very short so it is not necessary to buy them in advance.

For you Robin, Wed evening and Friday evenings after a specific time I think 5:00 pm the ticket for adults is reduced from 8.5 E to 6 E each.

chonan3 -

We always do the Louvre in short spurts. We pick one set of works and devote our visit to that set of galleries only. Then we go back in a day or two and view another set.

Our way allows us to really enjoy each period/nationality without getting bored and/or exhausted. We have found, also, that this method really lets us digest a given style and consequently we are more aware of the similarities and differences involved with each grouping as our visits go on.

Since you%26#39;re going on the week-end, I would suggest that you quickly head straight for whatever works interest you most - (the Mona Lisa?) and get a look before the hordes arrive - then you can take a more leisurely approach to the rest of the galleries.

I went last summer on Wednesday evening and also Friday evening. Neither of those times and dates were crowded. I would think it would be even less crowded during the next few months.

If you are bring young children the savings for the evening is really not that much. It might be better to bring the children when they are not dragging when they are well rested.

Also it should be noted that some of the museum rooms close during the evening times because many docents/ room guards go home and the do not employ as many to work at night.

Robin get the stroller guide at the information desk. Then you can use the elevator to take your young ones as the Louvre is quite a large place. Also as I said some rooms close on the late nights and some of those elevators are not accessible.

Maybe a stupid question, but is the metro stop where you can purchase Louvre tickets the %26quot;Palace le Louvre%26quot; stop? Or another one? Where is the entrance and is it well-marked? We usually just go in through the front, although we%26#39;ve used the Rue de rivoli entrance, too.
