Which would you choose?

My wife and I will be in Paris for a couple of days and we would like to experience one gastronomic meal while there. We are looking for a restaurant that offers a good valued prix fixe lunch menu, and one that doesn’t necessarily require a jacket and tie.

We have narrowed our choices down to:

L’Astrance

Senderens

La Table de Joel Robuchon

Le Pre Catelan

Laperouse

Which would you choose? Any others?

Based on reading several reviews on this site as well as a few other places, I chose Senderens (and I am very excited to report back on my experience later).

I would be interested to hear what others on this board think as there are many experienced travelers here who probably know more about the other spots (for comparison sake).

Thanks Bloomsday16!

Anyone else been to any of these?

Thanks

Not sure about lunch, but had an absoluitely incredible dinner at Pre Catelan. It%26#39;s 2 stars and it shows relative to 3 star restaurants on the service side. It%26#39;s not that you%26#39;re not coddled over, just less so than the 3 stars I have been to. But who cares, its about the food and they are putting out some inventive stuff at pre catelan. The tasting menu was incredible, I can%26#39;t even describe all the flavors we were treated to. They are on the foam band wagon, along with the gelee theme, so everything seemed really concetrated. The tasting menu we had was definately seafood oriented; we had dished that had lobster, shrimp, scallops and fish. There were vegtable focused dishes such as mushroom and tomatoes, and finally some like duck and veal sweet breads. Cheese the alot of desserts and you have to loosen your belt. The caveot is that this seemed really inventive, and taxes your taste buds after a while since there are so many flavors. Also, mybe its a US thing, but no wine degustion menu to go with the dinner. Oh yeah, its expensive as heck.

I also liked Hiramastu, which is int he 16th. I think it is a one-star place.

Oh what a difficult choice! They are all good, so know you can%26#39;t go wrong.

I loved Senderens, it was very good, had good service, great food, nice atmosphere.

BUT, I absolutely adore Le Pre Catelan. Such great food and so insanely beautiful. It would be best in the spring or summer though, when the flowers are in bloom.

Oui, Le Pre Catelan is gorgeous and delicious. The setting in the Bois de Bologne adds to the romance. We had lunch there a few years ago and it lingers in memory happily.
