Arrive in Dijon by train from Paris and then what?

Hi! We (young gals) would like to visit Burgundy in October for a one day side trip . We know how to get to/from Dijon by train. Once there though, where do we go and what to do? We do not plan to rent a car. Our goal is to see/experience something different there (e.g. wineries, country side, food, etc..) than what we would see/experience in Paris. Need help with itinerary please...

Other places I%26#39;ve read in this forum are Beaune and Loire. Would you recommend going to these places instead of Dijon?

Thank you in advance...

Hi, Dijon is very nice for its architecture, churches, museums, parks, restaurants, shoppings etc... but unfortunately it is a town so I%26#39;m afraid you won%26#39;t find any wineries nor countryside there.

You should head to Beaune by train or bus (20min by train) then you would enjoy the vineyards between the 2 towns, Beaune is a town dedicated to Burgundy wine so no problem.

If you ever want to visit Dijon, take more time than a day trip, it is worth it!

Happy travels! :-)

There is an article in today%26#39;s Washington Post on Dijon.

Good eye Parisbaby2!!! After reading the article, I definitely would want to visit Dijon!!! Thanks!

Thanks Parisbaby! :-) and you%26#39;re welcome G.

Except the fact that it is not raining that often in Cote d%26#39;Or (we have draught almost every year) I am very pleased to read such a nice (and accurate) article ! :-))

We spent four nights in Dijon and really loved it. Rented a car and took one of the days with a trip to Beaune. With only one day, it will be hard to do bot Dijon and Beaune. I would opt for Dijon because of the architecture and everything else. It is an easy and fast TGV train ride from Paris and you have a lot of time choices.

I just booked our train tickets to Dijon!!! Thank you all!

How funny! it is the first time I recommend Beaune instead of my dear Dijon and you%26#39;re coming anyway! that is great!

Don%26#39;t forget to go the the tourist office and ask for the %26quot;owl%26#39;s trail%26quot; brochure to see all the nice sites of Dijon.

Enjoy and welcome! :-)

Your welcome. On one of my trips to France I hope (and I will)) to visit Burgundy myself and Dijon is definitely on my list.

Enjoy your trip!! And don%26#39;t forget to post a trip report.
