best western castel provence vs citea nice magnan

this is our first time visiting the area. I was thinking of renting a car and staying at the Best Western castel Provence. then taking day trips to Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez, etc.. is this a reasonable plan? any thoughts or opinions on this hotel other than the TA reviews?

my other thought was staying in Nice at the Citea Nice Magnan (this seemed to have decent reviews on TA). with this option, we might do trains instead for travel.

local experts...what do you suggest?

Best Western Castel Provence

30 Chemin De Pinchinade , Sophia Antipolis, ?

If Ive got this right, you are thinking of staying in Valbonne Sophia Antipolis area and making driving trips to Nice Cannes St Tropez?

I%26#39;m going to be very frank. As a plan, it s not brilliant .Why would anyone want to stay in an area dominated by business people working in the Science parks, and drive miles to places where you cant park and everything is conveniently accessible on foot and public transport. and the car is no use to you.

Nice Citea Magnan and do bus boat and train from the centre of the action? Now thats a much better plan! You are going with the flow, no hassle, lower expense vast choice for eating out, everywhere hop on off bus and train - Monaco, Antibes, Cannes, Villefranche, Italy - its all on your doorstep.

My only quibble is the Magnan is a little way out of the centre - will give you a fair walk to get to the main travel connections. Not insurmountable but you might do better seeking out somewhere closer in to the centre of Nice.

Cheers!
