Paris for Valentine's

Salut ! My boyfriend is taking me to the Crillon for three days (2 nights) over Valentine%26#39;s. I would like a recommendation of a couple of cultural places to visit in the morning that are within an easy walk or métro ride. We like modern art so I was thinking maybe the Pompidou Centre, but I am not sure how far that is from our base. We like to have time free in the afternoon to sit in cafes so just prefer sightseeing for 3-4 hours max. I have been to Paris before but didn%26#39;t do any of the touristic stuff as I was working. Also, could you advise whether the trip to the top of the tour eiffel is included with dinner at the Jules Verne, we are booked for Valentine%26#39;s.

Pompidou Ctr too far to walk whrn short for time, will need the metro.

You are within walking distance to many wonderful sites. Directly across the street from the Crillon is the Place de la Concorde, walking across the bridge behind that, into the 7th Arr., brings you to d%26#39;Orsay museum with wonderful Impressionist art on the top floor. The Invalides %26amp; Napoleon%26#39;s tomb and Rodin museum close by.

To your right as you exit the hotel is the Champs Elysees, a good km+ walk to the Arc de Triomphe.

To your left, the Tuileries garden, with fountains and cafes, little pools where children play with sail boats; and the Orangerie museum, Grand palaise, and further down at the end of the garden-the Louvre.

Across the Seine from the Louvre, the Rive Gauche. Latin Quarter, Notre Dame not far from there-A easy metro ride from your hotel or a taxi for approx 6 Euros.

The Louvre is open til after 9PM on Wednesday, and less crowded.

Hopes this helps. Have fun,

Sorry abt that. I wanted to correct spelling of Grand Palais, and instead sent a duplicate post.

Jules Verne is located on the second level. Private courtesy elevator to the restaurant level only, and you will not need to stand in ticket line. However, dinner does not include ride to the top. Everyone going to the top must have a ticket, and must take another elevator. Tickets are available on the 2nd level, if you want to transfer to the top. I do not know if tickets are available for purchase at JV, it would be a nice courtesy if they were.

It was recommended that after dinner, you should inform your waiter if you want to go outside and then later return to the lounge to have cocktails or coffee. They then expect you, and will not question you for reservations, etc.

BTW, it is windy and cold up there!

The Crillon for Valentine%26#39;s Day - That sounds amazing! What a lovely way to celebrate.

Le Musee Maillol often has interesting modern shows and they are a reasonable walk from the Crillon.

I certainly recommend the Pompidou, even if you would need to metro/cab/bus it (10-15 minute ride, max.). You could walk around the Marais afterwards, visiting all the Contemporary art galleries in the area.

Another worthwhile visit for Modern Art buffs would be to the newly inaugurated Musee des Art Primatifs, often referred to as the Quai Branly. The architecture is stupendous and worth a visit in and of itself.

For 20th art you could also visit the City of Paris Museum of modern art (Musée d%26#39;art moderne de la ville de Paris).

Thankyou for your tips, I am so excited (already) I could pop !
