Like many first timers, I have been researching Paris accommodation for months. We are looking for something a little special in the vacinity of St Germain des pres to celebrate our 20th Anniversary %26amp; my 50th Birthday.
I have reservations for early October at 2 hotels:
Hotel Buci (E230/night) %26amp; Hotel Henry IV Riva Gauche (E167/night) neither hotel can confirm which room we would be staying in.
We need to cancel one asap - please help end my agonising!

Hi Jenny
if you compare the reviews there is absolutely NO doubt that I would choose Henri IV Rive Gauche, which ranks nr. 5 in the TA-popularity index:

Hotel de Buci ranks %26quot;only%26quot; as nr. 170 (which is OK, but if it is even more expensive than Henri IV why should you take Hotel de Buci ?)

Jenny, I know I am about to confuse you even more. But, the location is partially what you are paying for with the Hotel Buci. It is dead center in the St. Germain des pres area and that district is higher rent area than where the Hotel Henry IV is. Actually, many consider the Hotel Henry IV in the 5th, latin quarter. Although I know this is under debate as those few original streets there close to the St. Severin church are often considered St. Germain- confusing. Anyway, I love both areas. The rooms at the Hotel Buci do look %26quot;romantic%26quot; with the canopies and the location with the Buci market right there would probably be my first choice by location. But, given the reviews on the Hotel Henry IV, how could you go wrong ?

We stayed at the Henri IV this summer and loved it. If you are staying for 7 days, you can ask for a specific room but they still won%26#39;t guarantee it. We asked for 501 and did get it. The hotel is so close to tons of places to eat and to the metro.
