I have (almost) decided to rent thisapartment for 2 weeks next spring - and one of the really attrractive features is its location on the 7th floor.
BUT - I am terrified by the thought that the elevator may break down on the first day of my visit and then being under repair for the next two weeks.
Locals - let me have a little help !
What %-risk is there for the worst-case-scenario that I would have to climb the full 7 floors ?

Hmmm : How often do danish elevators break ?
I would say : about the same (a rather low risk).
It depends on how old/maintained/used the elevator is - there are two of them where i live : on my side there was one problem 7 tyears ago (2 days out of order) and that%26#39;s all in 35 years - the other one is under maintenance at least twice a year (there were installed at the same time, maintained by the same company)

whatever the odds, its is very rare for the repairs to take two weeks. usually it is up and running within two days. cheerful thought of the day : given murphy%26#39;s law, there is invariably somebody in the elevator at the time of break down.

Myself I would not take the chance on a place on the 7 th floor!
I have been in hotels in Paris where the elevators broke down and they would be in quite a hurry to fix them. I do not know how quickly an apt. management would get them repaired.
GitteK: You should ask Mascara for the place she rented It is very near where you are renting and it is very nice with two beds one in living room for guests and a bedroom also . I think it was on the first floor.
She loved it so much she intends to go back there again. Also it had internet access and free 1-800 telephone access.

Gitte - Since you have enough time to find something else, I think you should.............not because I think the chances of you being elevatorless are great, but because it%26#39;s obvious from your post that if that were to happen, you would be at a great inconvenience. ( I take it your broomstick wouldn%26#39;t get you up the 7 flights of stairs.)

HI Shoesy! You are so funny! I miss Irishrover! I am sure he would have a come back to boot!
|||
Hi Discover! Please give T.B. a hug from me.
|||
TB is being a cuddly bear! Sure will give her that huge hug! She has been helping clean up my house for the past few days so she is tired from following me all over!! I am still trying to return to normal with my mind still in France!
I just watched video of %26quot;Eight Below%26quot;! It was a great dog lover%26#39;s movie!

Thanks for your advice !
No doubt it would be - to say the least - %26quot;inconvenient%26quot; to haul my chubby self 7 floors up the stairs, but it would be good execise !
Problem is that I love the upper floors, because of more light, less street noise and for the view.
So I guess I will have to challenge Murphy%26#39;s Law and go for it.
For now my choice would be either the one mentioned, or this one:

ps. Shoesy, I only look like a witch - in real life I am just a boring insurance-clerk transporting myself around in a Toyota - not on a broomstick......
|||
You mean you%26#39;re not really a witch? How disappointing! Oh well, I%26#39;ll take you the way you are. Speaking of Toyota%26#39;s, my hubby just got a new one from work. He ordered it while I was in the States, and he told me it%26#39;s going to be a pretty pale green. Well, it doesn%26#39;t really look green to me........more like a grayish-green. I call it %26quot;metallic nasal mucus%26quot;. Anyway, I always name our family cars, and this one is named Paris. (not after the hotel heiress, of course)
|||
That is a hard decision!
In the first one you get to look at the micowave while you watch TV.
I love Toyota !!!!! I went to the dealership last summer in Paris just to look at their %26quot; future car%26quot;! They would not let me in but they gave me a postcard of it thru the glass door! Very nice of the guy!
