Hi,
I am going to Paris for the first time for 2 nights with my boyfriend. We arrive on our first night at 8pm and want to get to our hotel easily and fairly quickly. I understand there are various options and the shutlle is good. However if there is 2 of us, would the cost work out the same as other options?
Thanks a lot!
Ps any other top tips for a brief fling with Paris would be very welcome..

Sam,
I also am going to Paris with my boyfriend for a few nights. This will be our first time in Paris and I am curious as to the best way to get to our hotel which is also in the Notre Dame area.
Would a taxi, shuttle bus or the train be the best?

A bee shuttle will cost 34€.
I%26#39;m guessing that a Taxi Parisien will be under 50€. Have the address written down to show to the driver, and expect to pay the metered fare plus 1€ per bag.
Check out the Batobus--www.batobus.com

Ours was 47 euro with 4 suitcases and 2 adults and that was on a Sunday.

We took a taxi. The driver said it was about 45E but when we got off the taxi, he added bag/luggage costs per person. It resulted about 50E. This is about average from CDG to downtown Paris for a taxi.
If you do combine Roissy Bus/Air France and then taxi for 2 of you, it would be about 30E total...Estimate 10E for Roissy/Airfrance shuttle per person (20E) and 10E total for taxi to the hotel.

Try looking into the http://www.paris-blue-airport-shuttle.fr too. They currently have deals too for more than one person for roundtrip. The only disadvantage is time. The shuttle drops off each passenger to their hotels...
Hope this helps...

Does anyone know if there is a taxi service that has a good reputation that I can contact and make a reservation with?
|||
I have seen some negative posts regarding the shuttle services mentioned above that is why I am looking for alternatives.
I know I am going to have alot of luggage. We are coming from Italy where we will have been staying for 6 days. I plan to do a bit of shopping so I know I will have to lug things around.
I think a taxi is going to be our best bet and I wonder if there is a car service that is reliable and not too pricey. Please someone let me know.

No. Paris taxis are very much like London or New Yor ones : there are several companies (and also independant drivers) but they all operate the same way with the same tariffs. Just line up and take your pick . You have the right to choose any vehicle in the line, that%26#39;s handy if you want a monospace (French for van).

Thanks Sup......It sounds like I will be lugging all my stuff tot he taxi stand and waiting in line. We are statying at Henri IV Rive in the 5th, so I am assuming that all taxis can go to all sections of Paris? Is that correct? Are the prices varied by section?

Every Taxi Parisien [denoted by the sign on the roof] follows the same rules--metered fare plus baggage. The meters start at 2€.
Note that if during your stay in Paris you call for a cab, the meter is started when the driver heads in your direction.

Use the RER and Metro or the Taxi.
If it is a %26quot;Parsian Taxi%26quot; look for sign on top you will have less chance of being overcharged. Just go outside to get one. It is probably the easiest and quickest way to get to your hotel. I was charged 65 Euros. People have posted ranges of 38- 65 Euros depending on traffic, hotel destination, time of arrival and cost for luggage.
I would not recommend taking a shuttle because of the posted time of arrival. Most shuttle offices are closed on Sat afternoon and on Sundays and after 6:00pm at night. If you have a problem with a shuttle pickup the phone call to them will not be answered.
Have a wonderful trip.
