Hi
I have time for a week away from 28 Oct to 4 Nov and was thinking of Carcassone. Whilst I know it won%26#39;t be warm, I%26#39;m wondering will it be business as usual there - ie museums, markets, etc open?

Hi larabell,
Carcassonne is not just for tourists but is a regional administrative centre, so normal everyday life here is all year round.
The weather could easily be very pleasant when you plan to come and we do not expect to use much heating at that time of year; as during the day it is often still warm and sunny.
It can vary of course, being the start of winter.
This is probably a much better time of year for a visit than mid summer, as it can then be too hot outside to do a lot.

We%26#39;re going to the area next month so I%26#39;ve been checking what%26#39;s open. It looks like opening hours are more restricted with some places closing for a couple of hours at luchtime and some things appear to stop completely for the winter (boat trips and sightseeing tours of the town). We%26#39;re happy so long as the restaurants are open :-) but if you%26#39;re hoping to visit a particular attraction, then check on http://www.carcassonne.org - or with James!
