Hotel Dauphine St. Germain

I know I should have asked before I booked but.....is the hotel located in a safe part of town and what type of people will I encounter, ie business, tourist, locals, etc. I was so desparate to get a room on such short notice that I took and now I hope I did the right thing. Nothing I can do about now but at least I will be prepared for what I might see and/or encounter. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated

For most visitors to Paris, especially first-timers, this would be considered a prime location! It%26#39;s in the St. Germain des Près area, which is upscale and very safe. Lots of good cafés and restaurants all round you. Just a short block from the Seine, and no more than a few minutes%26#39; stroll to Notre Dame cathedral or the Louvre. Interesting streets, shopping and markets within a few blocks also.

Not sure if you are asking about the clientèle of the hotel, but they will be mostly tourists. If you mean the local area, you will find a good mix of locals and tourists.

Can%26#39;t say much about the hotel itself, but from the outside it looks very nice. If it is as nice on the inside, you%26#39;ve made a very good pick even if it was more by blind luck than good judgment!

Enjoy Paris!

MST:

Did you read the reviews in the hotel section? I just glanced at the first few and they all seem positive. Looks like a good choice.

I%26#39;ve stayed there and the location is great. Think there were mainly tourists (why would a local stay in a hotel?). Rooms were charming but ours was very, very small.

Mopsydog...we had a bassett hound named Mopsy!

Thank you guys for your input. I do feel better after reading these messages from you. I normally do alot of research and reading before booking anywhere but this time we did not have much time (5 days) and not alot of vacancy in Paris the week we were traveling so....hopefully it will all work out. Thanks again.

MST -

If this is your first trip to France, you need to be aware that almost all European hotel romms are small by American standards - and TINY by Texan standards. (Texas IS an independent republic, is it not?) :-)

It%26#39;s only when you are spending your kid%26#39;s inheritance on a hotel room that you will be likely to find the kind of acreage we tend to expect in a hotel. But you%26#39;re not going to be spending any time in the room except when you are asleep, so who cares?

Have a GREAT trip! It won%26#39;t be your last...

Just got back this week from Paris and highly recommend the Hotel Dauphine St. Germain. Although the rooms are very small, almost cruise ship size, they were very clean. I felt very safe walking around and the sights we wanted to see allowed us to walk just about everywhere. Great location. The staff was absolutely the best staff I have encountered in a long time. They were so helpful and cordial. The yappreciated our efforts to speak the language but flipped over to english when they knew we were struggling. I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it. Just be ready for a tiny room.
