Hello...my philosophy has always been to book early if a deal is available, however, with the exception of Zoom ($3600 for 4) most airlines are posting rather high fares for summer 2007. Even Air Transat is $5200 (higher than Air Canada%26#39;s $4500!!)
At any rate, I am tempted to book with Zoom, as I am not sure that I am going to get anything lower than their price, and I don%26#39;t want to see their prices go up as time elapses. So, my question is this:
What time of year have you booked for summer in which you believe that you got the lowest rate available??
Thanks very much for your consideration.
PS: present plan is to fly into Paris from Toronto and to fly out of Manchester or London.

Hello fellow Torontonian...$900 is a great airfare deal to Europe for summer. I would book it now. I%26#39;m off to Paris again in a few weeks (Oct). Been there 7 times and at different seasons. For hotel deals for 4 people, I recommend Hotel Des Batignolles:
www.batignolles.com/en.php?page=accueil...108 Euros...You can book it now too and cancel days prior at no extra fee for cancellation. There is a bakery across the street that sells the best bread in France...Great place to get brunch food.
Another option is to fly with Skyservice to Lisbon, Portugal for about $600 and then fly to Paris... Portugal is another great stop in Europe!!! We paid that price last August, which is peak summer month in Europe....
Hope this helps...

I refuse to use CDG - I generally travel on FF miles so I can%26#39;t advise in particular. My preferred route is KLM to AMS and then train to Paris. I have noticed that KLM often has seat sales when nobody else does so check them out. They are a partner to Air France and it seems to me that their individual seat sales don%26#39;t coincide.

I flew from Victoria ( B.C) to London for about 1000 dollars, then took the Eurostar to Paris ( only paid 45 euros each return for my son and I ) . Since I travelled much farther then you , I am not overly impressed with the prices you are getting.
Since you are leaving from Toronto, there has got to be a better price then Air Transat or Air Canadas, I guess Zoom is the best deal..
Why not look into the London airfares? Eurostar can be not too exspensive, but, the problem is they offer only so many %26quot; cheap or sale tickets%26quot; and you cannot book online more then 90 days in advance( which drove me nuts), hence I booked exactly on the 90 th day out, to be sure to get the cheap ticket. I also had to make sure to book for certain times( tues weds or thurs, not during peak travel periods etc.) but the price I got cannot be beat.
I booked my airline ticket in early Feb. for August.

I%26#39;m very interested in what you find out. We recently had to change our trip date from June 2007 to June 2008, so I have an extra year to wait / research / plan. So one thing I was going to do is monitor flight prices throughout the year! I was looking for June, but I found that British Airways had the best prices ($3700 for 4 including 2 kids) for Paris, via London. If you end up flying Zoom - I%26#39;d love to know how the flight was (widen our options). I read a different post that said November was a good time to watch for price dips, but that given the oil price situation, they thought there was unlikely to be a %26quot;seat sale bidding war%26quot; for business. Their advice (which made sense to me) was to figure out your budget - buy something that meets your budget when it meets your budget, and then don%26#39;t look at prices again ;-) While you might luck out on a cheaper flight somewhere down the line, in the context of the overall price of the trip, you are unlikely to find a HUGE bargain, so determine the price of your peace of mind ;-) Which I guess boils down to a reccomendation to buy the Zoom now!

well, seat sale for next year won%26#39;t come on until January. Although 4500 on AC isn%26#39;t bad at all.
What%26#39;s wrong with CDG? it%26#39;s not the nicest place, but if you are not connecting over there, I don%26#39;t see any problem with it. So the Maple Leaf lounge doesn%26#39;t have windows but it%26#39;s spacious. The general waiting area at the gate is big. Airport is accessible by cheap transportation.
Another 4 hours on the Thalys to transfer to Paris after a transatlantic trip isn%26#39;t really that much fun.

You%26#39;re just not going to find a cheaper flight than Zoom. Their whole schtick is lowest price but you have to give up creature comfort for the low price.
On a six hour flight I don%26#39;t mind the bare bones nature of the transport.
$600-$800 CDN is excellent and the price of fuel just isn%26#39;t going down. The cost of increased security measures is going to be an ever increasing addition to the ticket price so if you can book Zoom at that price now then get your credit card out and start dialing or typing.

I just booked tickets for our April 2007 trip to London through Air Canada. A return ticket was only $948.00 and that is from Thunder Bay. I thought I was getting a great deal especially since it included the extra $40.00 to reserve our seats at the time of booking.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses. I am just about to book through Zoom, as the price seems to be good. However, (and I think this should be a separate post): my main consideration against Zoom is that they only have 4 aircraft. I don%26#39;t mind the %26quot;no frills%26quot; part (nothing that a glass of cabernet, a bit of gravol and a neck pillow can%26#39;t solve!), but with only 4 aircraft I am concerned that mechanical issues might cause a serious delay. Any thoughts??

One of the reasons I%26#39;m leaning towards British Airways or something like that - even at a bit of a $ premium - is the thought that they won%26#39;t go under unexpectedly ;-) I personally don%26#39;t think that a small number of aircraft means an increased safety concern - I would have more business concerns then mechanical problems!
