Hi people, have shortlisted the following 5 hotels. Please advise how good or bad they are according to my requirments:

you first choice here is my favorite hotel in Paris - the one we always choose if not renting an apartment -- it is charming, has a garden courtyard and is beautifully located in the heart of the Latin Quarter and an easy walk to the Seine and Notre Dame

Hotel St. Jacques- I stayed here in November of last year and I loved it. It is well located according to your criteria and probably a little closer to the Seine and Place st. Michel than the hotel Des Grandes Ecoles, and that is why I chose it.

I will have to say that the Grand Ecoles gets rave reviews also and the location was my deciding factor for choosing the St. Jacques and it seems to be your main objective as well. However, if you had listed peace and quiet as your main objective, I may choose the Grand Ecoles ! The hotel St. Jacques is on Rue des Ecoles and it is a bit noisy with traffic there, however in the middle of the night I did not have a problem with street noise as the busy street usually became rather empty. You do not say when you are traveling, so if you go when you need to keep the windows open due to no air conditioning, the noise factor could be more of an issue !

One more nice hotel to mention: I stayed here in March and it is located even more favorabley than the above two, Hotel College de France on Rue Thenard. It is less romantic in decor than the St. Jacques, but probably the best location you can get, very central but off the main street, nice and clean and very well managed.

Thanks grace, waytogogirl!

your inputs really helped.

We will be travelling in the first week of october...and are not too concerned about how quiet or noisy the hotel per se is. just want to be in close proximity to a fun and lively area.

a quaint and romantic ambience is also quite importartant :)

ALL will suit your preference for pleasant, clean comfortable. The HÔTEL des GRANDES ECOLES is well located and is probably the best of this seletion for %26#39;..romantic quaint..%26quot;. The HÔTEL SAINT JACQUES and the GRAND HÔTEL des BALCONS will have the best relative locations...with the advantage going to the location of the Grand Hôtel des Balcons in the neighborhoods of the upper-6eme--Saint Germain des Prés. As good as the Saint Jaques and Grande Ecoles are....given the combination of your criteria, my first choice would be the GRAND HÔTEL des BALCONS

We are staying at Hotel Des Grands Ecoles over Christmas due to the great reviews. I hope the quad is suitable for a family of four (two being teenagers).
