Spending birthday in Paris so have been looking at hotels for one night near main tourist areas. Torn between the Royal Magda Etoile in Rue Trayon and the Hotel California in Rue de Berri. Any comments on these or others.
Also I love cous cous - any good central cous cous restaurants in which to spend my birthday evening?
Cheers, Cornishkat.

I would suggest you stay in these districts instead: 4th, 5th, 6th. The hotels you named are in the 8th district which is closer to the Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, and shopping. I personally don%26#39;t think that area has as much charm and sights as the 4th through 6th districts. For cous cous I%26#39;m pretty sure you will find many places offering it in these areas too.

Hi Cornishkat,
I%26#39;ve heard really good things about the restaurant La Mansouria in the 11th (11 rue faidherbe). People particularly recommended their couscous voilé.
I usually stay near the Bastille (hotel Lyon-Mulhouse) and find the hotel well located.

An excellent couscous is at Mansouria, rue Faidherbes, metro Faifherbes-Chaligny.

Mansouria is good, I like it there too.
I like Timgad more, it%26#39;s a great place for a celebration. It%26#39;s near the CHamps Elysees, metro Argentine on the Rue Brunel.
Excellent place.

It%26#39;s hard to go wrong with Chez Omar on rue de Bretagne in the 3rd.

Whatever you do DONOT go to the cafeteria on the top floor of the Arab Institute for cous cous! It was terrible! But do go to the gift shop for the beautiful colors of the cous cous dishes that are very reasonably priced!
The best cous cous I had was at the Rodin Garden cafe at the museum!
